A finish - a trunk show - and AWOL

First of all, I have finished the latest landscape as you can see...

FOR SALE!

"Lonely Sentinel"
inspired by a photo by Dale Stewart,
and used with his always kind permission.
Measures approx. 22" square

Below you can see Dale's photo...

Yesterday I was invited to a quilt guild that's about half an hour from here to do another trunk show.  It seems that they, and I, managed to survive the ordeal.

Monday was our local quilt guild meeting and of course I was hopeful that the AWOL landscape that disappeared when I did the trunk show for them would reappear but sadly such was not the case.  I guess, much as I dislike to admit it, that I will have to now assume that it was stolen.  All I can say is - I hope they enjoy it.

- Have a peek through the portfolio of THIS amazing artist!

- I don't know if you've noticed all the posts 'round and about the internet talking about the Emotional Support Chicken, but if you haven't HERE is the link to the pattern.

- THIS would be a pretty accessory to make for summer.

- All I can say is wow over the creations of THIS incredible artist - be sure to hover your mouse over each and you can see what he used for the background.

Today's quote..."Did you ever think all those stars are porch lights in heaven, waiting for their loved ones to come home"

  1. Sorry your landscape never turned up. No mouse here, but the site does give a progression of images for each work, with greater detail as it goes. I'm a tablet and phone reader and blogger.

    1. Yes, I'm sorry it's awol too - but these things happen.
Sorry, never thought of people not having a mouse! I'm not up with the times.

  3. Lovely Sentinel is beautiful in all those soft shades of blues and greys. How sad your landscape didn't turn up. It must have been a bit strange to know that there was a light-fingered person amongst your group. No mouse here...well not of the techno variety....nor, I hope, of the vermin variety. =)

    1. I've always loved working with denim so couldn't resist for this one. I'm still holding out hope that the landscape will return but who knows.

  4. So sorry that the landscape did not show up. I love this landscape. We have so many of those wind chargers around here. Sitting beside the foundations of homes. Harvey's family had one on the old farm that his dad would use to store electricity in batteries so his mom could run a washer and dryer (mostly the dryer in the winter).

    God bless.

    1. There was something about this lonely windmill that spoke volumes so it had to be recreated in fabric.
Yes, I wish the AWOL landscape would have shown up but alas it doesn't appear so.

  6. Hello Mary Anne: This is such an amazing quilt, I wish I had the wall space to hang it, I have my walls covered with so much now, it is truly a beauty.
I am so sorry your quilt did not show up, I hope it does soon.
    Thank-you for the great links.

    1. I know what you mean about having no wall space. I've ended up rotating the landscapes and change them when I finish a new one.

Sherry of createology: MA your landscape is lovely. From the photo Dale took for you to the finished piece is remarkable. You have a depth of texture and subtle color that is perfect for Lonely Sentinel. There are amazing artists you have shared. Today’s quote is a bright light to think about. Spring is in full bloom around here.

    1. Thank you Sherry! Dale is a most excellent photographer so I'm very grateful he gives me permission to use so many of his images.
Guess we're getting the full benefit of April showers here today.

  9. I want to hold out hope that someone accidently picked it up with something else. Maybe they haven't opened their bags since they got home from the show. Is your missing landscape labeled with your name and contact information? I don't mean to be annoying optimistic. The loss has to be very discouraging.

Your latest landscape is a beauty. The birds and "diamonds" stitched into the sky are very nice details.

    1. Thanks Becki - I'm holding out hope too, but it's fading fast. And yes, the landscapes are all labeled and everybody in the guild knows me so if they come across it they will know it's mine.

  10. Your finished piece compared to the picture is spot on. Sorry about your missing piece. When we feel something is stolen, there is an emptiness in us, especially if it was something special.

    1. I loved the look of the old windmill so it was a no-brainer to try to recreate it in fabric.
Yes, I think you're right - it does make you feel a little empty. These things happen so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. I just hope whoever has it is enjoying it.

  11. Wish I could get motivated to start Christmas this early. I do have ideas already, but they just sit there. Passing on the eclipse glasses is a great idea. Anything to keep something out of our landfills.

    1. I generally try to work on additions for the Christmas box pretty much all year, otherwise it's too much to do all at once.
