Unfortunately there's no sun here today (again...what's new) so I couldn't really get a decent photo of the progress on the landscape so you will have to use your imagination to know that it's made using denim....
- I found THIS article interesting.
- And THIS too.
- THESE are rather cute and would use up yarn scraps.
This made me laugh (but how true it is!)...
WOW!!! There is a lot of stitching on that piece. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Still working on the hand embroidery which will take me a couple days to complete.
DeleteI didn't see this one coming--love it!! Beautiful stitching--hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThank you Julierose. I had fun wondering if anyone would guess what it was going to be.
DeleteI like it! (I thought it was going to be a seascape.)
ReplyDeleteYes, I can certainly see why you would think that. Thanks!
DeleteBeautiful work, the edging is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteTook me a few hours to stitch that edging but it's my happy zone so I don't mind.
DeleteThat is wonderful, Mary Anne. Are you going to tell how you did the windmill? Is it embroidered? I assume that barbwire is embroidered. Impressive.
ReplyDeleteWindmill is stitched by machine with the addition of paint to create the vanes. And yes, the barbed wire is emboidered by hand.
DeleteCool!
DeleteWell my guess was far from a windmill. Really like the flower print you used for the pasture.
ReplyDeleteThe floral print is actually a leftover piece from a wee dress I made for our grandie.
Delete(Oops hit the enter key to go to next line but it submitted. I wasn't done!)..........I taught kids sewing skills by having them make fidget quilts (Lesson plans on my blog.) It was made of squares with each square including a different sewing technique. The skills were taught on a scaffolding plan. Yes, that donkey is exactly me. I'm stealing it.
ReplyDeleteI've seen fidget blankets that were either knit or crocheted and fidget muffs, but this is the first time I've come across quilted versions. You were on to something!
DeleteSo many old wind chargers here in Saskatchewan. Awesome. Also windmills on dugouts and those low lying areas. It is really hard to tell the difference.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I hadn't heard the term 'wind charger' until you brought it up so I had to ask Mr. Google to explain them.
DeleteSherry of createology: I think this landscape made with denim will be spectacular. I love the windmill. How did you ever find out what happens to me when I go to bed…so tired I can’t stop yawning! Still no resolve on what hubby’s bacterial infection is. So frustrating not knowing. On med #3, although we skipped #2 and he became allergic to med #1. Geesh…
ReplyDeleteHAh - because that's what happens to me most nights. My mind refuses to shut down and I lie there wide awake while RC is out like a light in mere minutes. I try not to hate him.
DeleteHope you soon get your DH's issue figured out and he starts feeling better.
Oh, that's going to be awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt's fun working with denim - hadn't realized how much I missed it until I realized I could use it in landscapes. Thanks!
DeleteLove that you are using denim! It's looking so pretty! xx
ReplyDeleteI used to work a lot with recycled denim and made a ton of jackets but had to give them up when my hands started giving me grief. I'm happy to find a way I can work with it again.
DeleteI was thinking it might be something tall like a lighthouse, but this makes much more sense. Looks wonderful already.
ReplyDeleteHmmm - I must consider doing a lighthouse one day. That would be fun!
DeleteOh, I see I was here already - just trying to catch up. The fidget quilts look interesting. Years ago, before my kids were grown and married and we had a local quilt/fabric store, I fell in love with the idea of doing an "I Spy" quilt one day if I ever had grandchildren. I think I even starting collecting fabric for it, but never got around to making one. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI thought of making I Spy quilts for our grandies and then I stopped to realize just how many different fabrics I would have to buy and the urge passed.
