Yay!

One dress - done and dusted!

And....
The Resident Chef appeared in my
sewing room to show me this...

This is a pie-sized butter tart,
due to be gifted to our friend
(who loves the RC's butter tarts)
when we see him tomorrow.
Wonder if he'll eat it all at one sitting?

- Have a peek through the galleries of THIS artist!

- THESE are so pretty and use simple ingredients to create.

- There are lots of free patterns to choose from HERE.

- THIS would be a fun project.

Who knew?

I mustered my courage and attempted to sew a little dress for our grandie.  I was reminded quite thoroughly that I am NOT cut out for sewing clothing when I was feeling quite smug about my progress only to realize that I'd made the opening for the back on the shoulder instead. AND, to add insult to injury I completely overlooked the pattern where it very clearly said you should cut the front bodice on a fold and I cut it in two pieces (and then wondered why the facing pieces didn't fit...duh.   Good thing I'm such good friends with my frogging tool.  Luckily (?) I had to order additional fabric to do the skirt and there's enough that I can re-do the pieces I messed up.   I'm also pretty sure it's quite a bit too big for her, despite using the 'proper' size on the pattern.  Oh well.  She'll grow - maybe it will fit her NEXT year.  Now you know why I don't sew clothing!!!💣💥💩😒

Here's the pieces put together correctly (I hope!) waiting for the
skirt to be sewn on.

Pattern I used is Simplicity CS9280.

- THIS would be such fun to make and gift to someone - it could be filled with anything you like.

- Have a peek through the galleries of THIS incredible artist!

- And THIS gallery made me smile!  (Be sure to check out her other works too).

Little add-ons and a holiday

I made these extra pieces to go along with the tote bag I showed you last time.  I really wanted to use up as much of the tartan as I could, so these were the result (a small zippered pouch; a mid-sized pouch; and a tissue cover)....

I'm afraid I fell down on the job and don't have a single link for you this time.  I know, what's this world coming to!  So, enjoy your holiday and I'll try to have some for you on Friday.

Today's quote is from Bertrolt Brecht..."Those who know the truth are fools, but those who know the truth and call it a lie are criminals"

A side trip

For a little break from landscapes, I thought I'd add some more to the Christmas box and this tote bag was the result.  There's a couple of accessory pieces underway that I will show you later.  The recipient loves highland cows and I was able to get a piece of her family tartan so this is the result...

Pattern for the bag is THIS one.  I purchased commercial leather handles rather than making them myself.

- How about crocheting one of those emotional support chickens I keep seeing around the internet?  Go HERE.

- I rather like THIS little bag.

- Some things just bring on an involuntary awwwwww - THIS.

- I like THIS too. And THIS sweet little companion piece.

Today's quote is from Fyodor Dostoyevsky...."People speak sometimes about the bestial cruelty of man, but that is terribly unjust and offensive to beasts, no animal could ever be so cruel as a man, so artfully, so artistically cruel"

The reveal

Some of you might remember my having shown you a pile of fabrics a week or so ago (you are forgiven if you don't).  The pile of two different fabrics has now been turned into six sets of aprons and hot pads - all destined for the Christmas box.

- I've noticed a definite resurgence of granny squares and thought I'd share THIS great pillow design.  If the pictures don't show when you go there, just click on the small thumbnails and they will embiggen for you.  And, while you're there, click on her 'Free Patterns' and explore the other wonderful designs she has on offer.

- HERE is a fun little project.

- And so is THIS.

- Of course THIS caught my eye.

- THIS looks like a pretty easy thing to create and I think it would look good with brown bags too.

Today's quote is from Confucius..."An evil man will burn his own nation to the ground to rule over the ashes"

Another addition for dare I say it...?

Yes, here's another item that's heading for the Christmas box.  It's the Agnes Divided Pouch found HERE.  I know it's a 'pay' pattern but I thought it was nice enough to warrant it.  There might be more if my stash yields any appropriate fabrics that marry up with the zippers I have on hand.  I won't be buying fabric for these which will offset the price for the pattern itself.

It's hard to tell from this photo (go to the link to see more details) but there are pockets on the outside of the pouch as well as some inside.

- I thought THIS was pretty, depending on the fabric you use.

- THIS would be cute to make for spring.

- There's some good information HERE for quilters.

- THIS made me smile!

- THIS is an easy project that most anybody can do.

I made something!

Wow.  I actually bestirred myself and made something!  Remember me sending you to THIS in my last post?  Well, I made one and here it is, holding sock yarn that is earmarked for a special request for four pairs of socks for next Christmas....

- If you have need of a quick baby quilt, perhaps THIS design might be perfect.

- THESE would be a cute make for Valentine's Day!

- THIS made me laugh!

- You know those little silica gel packets you sometimes get?  HERE are some uses for them!

- THIS made me smile too (scroll down for some more cuties).

- THIS is really pretty.

Wheel spinning

Not much of the creative bent has been done over the past couple of days.  I did finish the little hat and diaper cover to go with the dress I showed you last time.

Sorry about the picture quality - once
more the sun isn't gracing us with its
presence.

- THIS is a very interesting article that is geared towards crocheters but pertains to all of us who are creative.

- Have a peek through the galleries of THIS artist.

- And THIS one as well!

Still sewing

Yesterday I finished working on this little dress for our wee grandie....

Pattern is the Infinite A-line Dress Pattern from Bonnie and Blithe.  I'm currently working on a matching diaper cover and will be making another little hat too.

- Joy is starting a fun new block-of-the-month that combines piecing as well as sweet flower embroideries.  Go HERE to find out more.

- You might want to experiment with THIS.

- Making one (or more!) of THESE would be fun and would make great gifts.

- THIS is a different method for casting off your knitting.

Just a little switch of gears...

Spring is coming so I decided our little grandie needed a new outfit (actually, there will be two) and this is the result...

Pattern is Simplicity 1453

- Some of you might find THIS article about junk journaling to be of interest.

- THIS is really cute!

- Have a peek at the creations of THIS artist.

- THIS would be fun to make for Easter.

Couture?

I've been working on a couple of little outfits for our wee grandie and this is the first one...

Dress pattern is THIS one and the diaper cover is from HERE.  I added the lace and the little flower just because I could!

Today I have this for your quote...

oops - a squirrel......

#2 grandson is taking music lessons and a special request was made for a tote bag to carry his supplies.  How could a grandma refuse?  So....this was the result and it's already in the mail...

I haven't shared a recipe for awhile and thought some of you might find this to be a good use for excess rhubarb.  It's SOOO good!!

Ruthie's Rhubarb Punch

8 lbs. diced rhubarb
8 quarts water
2 x 12 oz. cans frozen Orange Juice
1 x 46 oz. can pineapple juice
2 x 3 oz boxes strawberry jello
Cook rhubarb and water together until comes to a boil.  Boil 20 minutes or until rhubarb is practically mush.  Strain the 'mush' out of the juice and return to stove (you'll need more than one pot!).  Keep hot and add remaining ingredients.  Bottle (makes approx. 15-ish quart jars) being sure to leave headroom in the bottles for expansion as it freezes (very important!).  Freeze.

Today, instead of a quote, how about this...

Finished dress

Over the weekend I finished working on the little dress.  I'm happy with it and I think I'll make more with this pattern.  Luckily it comes with a number of sizing options so it can grow with her.  I think that now I've worked through one any further efforts should be easier.

Pattern can be found HERE.

And, while I was at it I thought I'd attempt making a pillowcase dress from the instructions found HERE

- HERE is another small project that you could consider doing to show your support for the Ukraine.

- For those of you who like frogs, perhaps THIS might catch your eye.

- Have a look through THIS gallery!  And how about the amazing thread painting projects found HERE.

- I would never wear one of THESE myself but have to admit it did make me smile!

- Anyone interested in embroidery would find THIS to be an interesting article to say nothing about the eye candy!

Another Christmas finish

Our youngest grandson is the only member of the family that was stocking-less for Christmas.  A doting grandma simply can't have that, so this was created...

The red bear fabric is SO soft and cuddly.  The bear applique is the back side of a scrap of suede I had in my stash.

Today's quote..."Don't compare your life to others.  Comparison is the thief of joy"

More additions

Because I made a teddy pillow cover for our youngest grandson, I can't leave the oldest without one, so here is his (which will be going in the Christmas box)....

Made from scraps found in my stash and using a monster picture I found online to create a pattern.  What little boy doesn't like monsters - especially if they're friendly ones!

And, because I had some leftover Thomas the Tank Engine fabric (from making the little apron to go with the felt food) I thought I'd whip up a pillowcase - also going in the Christmas box....

These are SO (SEW?) easy to make!  All the seams are enclosed which makes it nice and sturdy as well.

Today's quote..."I was being so good at the craft store, I really was....but then I got out of the car and went in"
