(FOOTPRINTS TOGETHER)

- THESE are the kinds of bugs I like!

- Many of us seem to accumulate an over-abundance of shopping bags, so THIS is a good idea to make something useful out of them.

- THIS is quite pretty and would be fun to make.

- I'm sure you've heard of emotional support chickens and THIS cute little design caught my eye.

- HERE is something you might have fun making.

High hopes

Yes, I had high hopes the latest landscape would be ready to unveil today but we decided to run the roads yesterday afternoon so I didn't have time to stitch.  So...I will show you a small section and hopefully will have the whole thing ready for showing you on Friday.

- THIS looks like a fun project.

- And so does THIS!

- Those who are interested in weaving might like to see the projects found HERE.

- Although this isn't the right season for THIS, perhaps you might like to consider the possibilities.

Perching

I've added another element to the latest landscape.  There's still work to be done on this section but thought I'd show you the beginning stages...

- The weavers among you might like to have a perusal of the wonderful works by THIS artist!

- THESE would be fun to make, but I'd want to add something rubbery on the bottom for traction.

-THIS is a rather nice bag that could serve all sorts of purposes.

- HERE is something you might like to try!

Hmmmm

This week I was given this quilt flimsy and I will be taking it to the local quilt guild meeting in September to see if anyone wants to complete it.  Someone has spent a lot of hours doing all those embroidered flowers so it would be a shame not to complete the project.  It's not something I want to tackle so I'll be happy to pass it along.

Sorry about the picture quality.  My quilt holder upper (aka The RC) couldn't hold it all.  I think it's at least a double bed size, possibly queen.

This is a closer photo of one of the embroidered medallions.

- THIS is a rather nice little tote bag that could serve a myriad of uses.  And THIS is an interesting one too.

- I must admit I was gobsmacked when I saw the prices on THESE!!  Obviously I work really cheap!

- THIS is an interesting technique using embroidery to weave.  And you can read more about the technique HERE.

- The weavers among you might find THIS of interest.

knit, knit, knittery, knit

I'm really having fun creating this blanket using sock yarn.  It's going to take me awhile but it's mindless knitting and perfect for sitting in front of the tv in the evenings.

- Please check out this redwork block of the month that is starting HERE!  Block One is available HERE.

- If you like to dabble in watercolours, perhaps some of the ideas HERE might be of interest.

- THIS is a great use for a flannel shirt.

- Just look at what creative people can do with teabags (HERE)

So you know what's happening now, don't you

Yes, I've started another landscape (nothing new about that, is there).  It's #5 in the 'Him and Me' series I've been working on.  I don't know for sure, but at this moment I think it might be the last in the series.

- Have a look at what THIS artist does - using clothespins!

- THIS looks like something that would be fun to experiment with.

- Amazing that someone thought to come up with THIS!

- And aren't THESE cute?

Close enough

Close counts, right?  The jacket is as done as I can get it for now because my stash let me down.  I know - horrors!!  I need four big dome fasteners (only have 2) and I was sure, in all the buttons I have, there would be four big red buttons.  Sadly no.  So, I'm calling the jacket done - until I can get to Fabricland to get what I need to totally finish it.  You'll have to use your imagination and pretend to see four large red buttons on the front where the pins are.

And....wonder of wonders!  It fits!!
(well, the sleeves and the body could have been
a wee bit longer, but it's okay)

- If you've discovered the many uses for beeswax wraps, perhaps you'd like to try making your own from the tutorial HERE.

- If we still had a garden I'd like THESE.

- Aren't THESE pretty?  I can think of lots of uses for them.

- Ummmmmm - WHY???

- Some of THESE are incredible!

Today's quote..."Be nice to crafters.  We have enough creativity to make your death look like an accident and due to a lifetime of hot glue gun burns, we leave no fingerprints"

Almost

There's almost a jacket - but not quite.  Another day should finish it so hopefully I'll have an updated photo for you next time.  In the meantime, the use-up-the-sock-yarn-stash project is growing but it's a slow slog.  I can usually manage two squares each evening but I'm refusing to sit and figure out how many I'll need to make a blanket large enough AND how long it's going to take.  At least the saving grace is that the squares are added as I go along so I won't have to sew them together afterwards - silver lining?

- THIS would be a great stash buster for yarn.

- I'm not about to make another jacket anytime soon, but THIS one did catch my eye (the Vibrant Sashiko Jacket that comes up first).

- Have a peek through the gallery of THIS artist!

- HERE is a cute little project.

- There's an interesting article HERE about pricing your handmade items.

....and....now we have pieces!

All of the denim 'blocks' have been quilted with red thread and the pieces for the jacket are cut out and ready to assemble.  There was JUST enough in the quilt flimsy to do the job...phew.

Picture shows the front and back pieces - sleeves look prety much the same.

- Our boys used to play with THESE and now I'm wondering if they are coming back in vogue.  Might have to make some for our grandies if that's the case!

- With rhubarb being in season right now, THIS is a great project.

- THIS little guy is awww-worthy!

- There are tons of ideas HERE to use up that prolific rhubarb in your garden.

Today's quote is from Matt Haig...."Wherever you are, at any moment, try and find something beautiful.  A face, a line out of a poem, the clouds out of a window, some graffiti, a wind farm.  Beauty cleans the mind"

and we have a quilt...but wait!

Yes, there's a quilt top flimsy done using all the denim I cut up as you can see from this...
But - sadly it doesn't seem to have made much of a dent in the container of denim.

And - since this picture was taken, I've chopped it up again (still befuddling the RC over why on earth I would want to do that).

- THIS might spark an idea about what to do with a paper road map.  Now we have GPS maps seem to be a thing of the past.

- I may have posted a link to something similar to THIS but it was a long time ago and so I thought a refresh might come in handy.

- I think THIS is rather awww-worthy.

- Wish I'd known about some of THESE ideas when my Dad was still with us.  He had THE biggest collection of rusty nails imaginable.

Hack and cut - stitch and cut

Remember the tangent I told you about last time?  Well I spent the better part of an entire day cutting up denim and then I started sewing it all back together again.  Next 'up' on my dance card?  Cutting it up again!  (pictures to come in my next post).

Sadly, I don't have any pictures for you this time, nor do I have but one link for you.  Being a social flutter-bye and a day away means no time for searching links out for you.  I'll try to do better next time!

- THIS is an important read - and something to take to heart.

And how about this, instead of a quote...

Off on another tangent (or several)

You likely will have noticed my quest to reduce the leftover yarn stash(es) and I came across an idea to finally use the sock yarns to make something useful.  I'm using THIS tutorial and so far I've done this much....

This just might be a project that will continue for the rest of my life!

And....I've added to the hat collection for donation with these....

And now I'm tearing off on another tangent in a quest to reduce the stash of denim that is overflowing the container and I am wondering if I could make THIS and use it as a base to make THIS.  Of course I've horrified the RC by telling him I'm cutting up lots of denim which I will turn into a quilt (he's fine with that) but then I sent him right off the rails by telling him that I then planned to cut the quilt up again.  My main goal in life is to keep him wondering!  And now I'm wondering if I (or my hands) will attempt to add some sashiko stitching.  Jury is still out on that idea.

- Although there's no real 'pattern' for THIS, I thought it was a great idea for displaying special buttons (or perhaps brooches?)

- Further on mitered knitting, how about THIS?

- THIS would be a fun thing to play with and create something pretty at the same time.

- The weavers among you might find THIS article of interest.

Finishing stitches are in!

Here's #4 in the 'Him and Me' series - complete!!

Him and Me IV - Swingin'
measures approx. 19x21"

FOR SALE

There's approximately 21 hours of hand embroidery in the floral section alone (who knew?!).

- I like THIS, only I'd make it longer.

- Sometimes it's the simple things (like THIS)

- THIS takes you to part one of  a series on creating your own hussif.

- THIS is a rather brilliant idea (and very practical!)

Today's quote is from Desmond Tutu..."Be still, be quiet, and then you will begin to see with the eyes of the heart"

Another section

I've now added another section (or at least mostly) to the landscape as you can see from this closeup.  There's a multitude of varying skinny bits of fabric twisted together to create the tree limbs.  The leaves are leftovers from another landscape - originally they were a dark yellow but some paint changed that to something a little more summer-like.

- If you hate wasps (don't we all?), perhaps you'd like to make one of THESE to see if it might deter them.  OR perhaps you'd prefer to make THIS version.

- There are some cute ideas to use fabric scraps HERE.

- If you like hats, perhaps THIS one might catch your eye.

- If you'd like to treat yourself (or someone else) to a new needlebook, perhaps you'd like to make this - Part One and Part Two.

double hmmmmm ---

I normally use Google for my browser but it seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth - don't know if it's my computer or if it's the Grande Google In The Sky issue, but I have now had to resort to using Microsoft Edge - not my idea of fun, but at least, for now, it's working.  Methinks this might be an ongoing saga of woe!!

Over the past few days I've managed to (hopefully) finish the embroidery on the floral section of this landscape.  I used the printed fabric as the 'pattern' and stitched it with various flosses, pearl cottons, and silk ribbons.  Sadly a photo doesn't do it justice because there's tons of texture that I know you won't likely be able to see (clicking to embiggen might help).

I tried taking a photo on a bit of an angle so perhaps this one shows the stitching more?

- I really like what THIS artist creates!  Her use of colour is amazing.

- It's rare in these times to read a feel-good news item and so I thought I'd share THIS one.  While you are at the site, you might like to explore further and perhaps sign up for their good news newsletter (it's free).

- HERE is another amazing artist!

- I've been searching for ideas for a new knit or crochet project and thought I'd share these resources in case you're interested...for free knit patterns go HERE  and for crochet go HERE.

hmmmm....

Just a wee note - if I disappear off the face of the earth, don't be concerned.  My computer is doing strange things and I'm beginning to wonder if it's on the way out.  Of course the strange could be happening because it's done a couple of updates recently and perhaps the first one didn't work properly.  Who knows, but thought I'd let you know, just in case.

I fell down on my resolve and ordered an influx of creative fodder as you can see from this...

- I doubt I'd ever try THIS, but of course the fact that it uses denim was intriging.

- Have a scroll through THESE - definitely some inspiration there.

- There's inspiration of a different sort HERE.  While you're there, spend some time exploring because there's lots to see.

- THIS guy simply made me smile.
