I took the rippit tool to the landscape because I simply did.not.like.it. The proportions were all off (at least in my uneducated in art brain) so I lobbed off several rows and now I'm much happier. I should have taken a 'before it was dressed up' picture with the old tractor but oh well. Here it is as it is right now with basting stitches ready to start quilting...
- I hate to admit that the much-dreaded stuff that falls from the sky is on the way, but perhaps making THESE would make it more fun. Or maybe THESE for your fall decor?
- THIS is one of the 'awwww-things'.
- I can't find who to attribute THIS to, but thought it was worth sharing.
- I had a lightbulb moment when I saw THIS - I am making one for myself, for sure.

Prayers for Florida and anyone in the path of Helene

I don't remember where I found this, but it's been waiting in line to be shared...
Making art does involve a lot of decision making, true. Usually for the better. I'm trying to get news of Florida friends.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right that it does call for lots of decisions and often mine are way out in left field.
DeleteFlorida and up the coast are definitely in our thoughts.
As of now all my Florida and Georgia friends have checked in and they're fine. Some damage, nothing huge. Mostly with power.
DeleteGood to hear!
DeleteI like how this came out a lot--those tree leaves are so perfect--and the old tractor is beautifully rendered.....nice work
ReplyDeletehugs, Julierose
I'm toying with adding fussy cut maple leaves but jury is still out on that.
DeleteSherry of createology: This poem is genius! Prayers for all in the path of Helene. Great ideas…especially the pin cushion!
ReplyDeleteI thought the poem was amazing too.
DeleteI love that tracker, so cool, the autumn tree is beautiful, lovely color of fabric choices, I too will make a pin band for my sewing machine, thank-you for the link.
ReplyDeletePraying for all the people that have and will be affected in the hurricane.
Catherine
I like the tractor too - one of my favourite things to create. And yes, a pin band is in my guture too.
DeleteI see what you did there - scrolling up and down. Looks great. I especially like the tractor too. Love the poem.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks more in proportion after I reverse-stitched part of it.
DeleteVery nicely done Maggie. I love the colours in the landscape.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I was in a mood for fall so these colours suited the theme.
DeleteI suspect anything you do to a quilt looks fabulous, but I trust it wasn't right to your eye. The tractor is a wonderful addition. Perfectly old and rusty. :) And that poem is very clever. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew the why of why I didn't like it as it was...I just know it didn't look right.
DeleteGreat poem by a creative mind.
ReplyDeleteOur part of KY lost some trees, lots of branches and windows covered with bits of broken leaves. Amazing how it beat the green leaves still attached off the trees. I lost power for almost 5 hours. Nothing like what others east and south of me are going through still over a week later.
Now my Florida friend has had to evacuate the Tampa area and I fear they will lose it all. Some cousins didn't want to fight the stand still traffic to evacuate from central Fl so they are still there as of Tues. I fear even flooding there since they are in the center of the cone. God bless them all.
I'm glad you were relatively unscathed, but certainly our thoughts are prayers are with those who lost so much and stand to lose even more when the current one makes landfall. It must be so terrifying for them and even more so when they can't get out. Prayers indeed.
