The quote is from Russell Baker..."Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it"
You're really good at crochet. That's very pretty. Your Christmas box is filling rapidly.
ReplyDeleteI was reminded as I worked on this project that my hands really don't like working with thread that thin. I kept at it and finally got it finished but it's going to be awhile before I do any more.
DeleteWhat a lovely doily--those pink roses and the leaves are so pretty....beautiful work on this!!
ReplyDeleteI loved the article on the many ways to sew buttons...really fascinating!! Thanks so much...hugs, Julierose
I liked the button ideas too - now just to remember that I have it on file for future use!
DeleteOh wow! Did you hear my jaw hit the floor. I love, love, love the doily. I also really like that button project, and the spring journal. Great finds friend!
ReplyDeleteI hope the recipient will love the doily too, but I won't know until after Christmas. And glad you enjoyed the links!
DeleteThat is so pretty. My grandmother did some wonderful crochet. Me, well I will stick to knitting, sewing, weaving, cross stitch, embroidery and quilting.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
My grandmother did too and my mother tatted.
DeleteSherry of createology: MA dear your crochet is beautiful. My Grandma did such crochet and I have a Pansy doily she crocheted. My heart swoons when I see some of the links of such talented artists you share. Thought provoking quote…I like it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sherry. It's been years since I did any thread crochet and I suspect it will be years before I do any more (if ever!).
DeleteOooooo... hope you draw my name at Christmas!!! This is FANTASTIC!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's actually headed for Australia...sorry. Glad you like it!
DeleteOMG, that's beautiful! It must have taken forever!
ReplyDeleteYes, it took awhile. Working with crochet cotton is a chore with my hands so I couldn't work on it for very long.
DeleteI think that's the prettiest doily I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteawww - thank you, but now I'm wondering how many you've actually seen (and yes, I'm kidding).
DeleteI grew up in New England: Land of Doilies :)
DeleteMy grandmothers both had doilies absolutely everywhere - mostly crocheted but then my mother learned to tat and she added dozens more. I still have a few. My maternal grandma also made knitted lace to trim pillowcases.
DeleteIt's beautiful, Mary Anne. I love all the colors! The variegated thread used on the leaves is especially fun.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of you as I made it because you do such pretty doilies. Glad you like it!
