I've been procrastinating over putting the zipper in the sweater I made for our oldest grandie. Turned out I really didn't need to fuss over it because it wasn't as difficult as I thought (who knew!!). The sweater isn't wonderful but I doubt he will care because, after all, Grandma figured out how to use the same Minecraft design I did on his hat and translate it into the sweater. This, as of this moment (barring any unforseen idiocy on my part), will be the last sweater the grandsons will get because they insist on getting bigger and my hands just won't agree with me knitting that large. I *might* still make one for our littlest one but that remains to be seen.
- THIS is a cute wee gift that you might like to create.
- THIS is a pretty little tree project.
- Pour yourself a cuppa and have a look through the ideas found HERE.
- THIS is cute too.
- There are lots of ideas for snowflakes HERE.
- THESE are pretty and would look nice either on your tree or used as gifts.
Today's quote..."Don't let anyone who hasn't been in your shoes tell you how to tie your laces"
That's a good quotation. I wonder who said it. Sounds like someone's grandma. Good for you on the zipper, my least liked task, too.
ReplyDeleteI wonder who said that quote too - I try to give credit if I know who it is but there are so many out there that don't have that information.
DeleteAnother perfect sweater! You much be a legend in your family.
ReplyDeleteOh no, it's definitely not perfect!! I miscalculated my centering of the Minecraft details but I don't suppose he'll notice, or likely care.
DeleteYour grandson's sweater is really lovely--how wonderful to be able to extrapolate that pattern to fit around the bottom...nice work;))
ReplyDeleteAnd inserting a zipper? Not my favorite ever--I've only done one or two and had to take a nap afterwards!! hahaha
Hugs, Julierose;)))
I didn't need a nap after I did the zipper - not even a lie down! I honestly was surprised at how well it went in. It's not perfect but good enough!
DeleteWhat a cool sweater for the little guy! You are such a talented grandma. Thanks for the links today - found some things to use up some supplies I had stashed away..... and remembered the bead stars I made last year and forgot to put up!
ReplyDeleteOh good - I helped!!
DeleteCute sweater
ReplyDeleteNice quote. I hope I remember it to share.
The wood ornaments would make a nice project to do with the family.
I'm glad the sweater is done (and wrapped!).
DeleteVery nice. I am sure he will love it.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I hope he does and, even more importantly, I hope it fits!
DeleteYou are a pro when it comes to sweaters for the grands. I love this one and I know your grandson will too.
ReplyDeleteI love making things for the grandies but my hands are telling me I need to curtail working on some of the heavier things so sweaters are out. I'll still make them hats and mittens and small things though.
DeleteI think that's a pretty wonderful sweater. :) Seriously.
ReplyDeleteHopefully our grandie will too!
DeleteSo was the zipper your first new sewing machine project? I think he'll like his Mine Craft apparel.
ReplyDeleteActually I sewed the zipper in by hand. Didn't want to run the risk of having to remove tiny little (black!) sewing machine stitches if it didn't work out. First project on my new sewing machine was making the PJ's and now I"m working on a landscape.
DeleteSherry of createology: Very handsome sweater. I like that you used a zipper to close it. Lots of great links. Very good quote.
ReplyDeleteI liked the idea of the zipper but it certainly scared me to try to put it in. Turned out it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.
DeleteCongratulations on the zipper! I always shy away from them too, only to find that I didn't really need to worry! Great quote too! Christine xx
ReplyDeleteLast time I attempted a zipper I used the machine but this time I thought I'd sew it by hand and I'm glad I did. It didn't give me any problems at all which was a pleasant surprise.
DeleteGreat job on the sweater. I gave up knitting a couple of years ago as it was bothering my hands. I'd rather keep them for hand embroidery.
ReplyDeleteI'm learning that marathon knitting, particularly on larger projects, doesn't agree with my hands either. There's two schools of thought on that - either soldier on and try to keep the hands limber, or rest them and run the risk of them seizing up entirely.
DeleteYou are a expert knitter! That sweater is awesome.
ReplyDeleteExpert? Me? Hardly!!!! I could point out a number of mistakes, for sure.
