Another thing checked off my list

One of our grandies loves Catboy from PJ Masks so of course what is a grandma to do but try to make him one for Christmas.  This is the result...

Pattern is THIS one, yarn from my stash (mostly Paton's Canadiana I think).

I also made one of these - again using scrap yarn I had on hand.  Pattern for that is HERE.  I liked that this one has a bottom which many of them don't.

- Perhaps you'll find an idea HERE for some gift-giving this year (thanks to Jocelyn for this one!).

- Although THIS is a to-purchase pattern, it made me laugh so I had to share.

- I've been curious how THESE are made and this tutorial spells it out.

- Scroll down HERE to see just what caught my eye!

Today's quote is one of those things about words that I find interesting...

Don’t forget a shiver of sharks and a Kaleidoscope of butterflies.

    1. I don't think I've heard the 'Kaleidoscope of butterflies' before...I like it!

  2. I've often wondered how much mug cozies help to keep beverages hot, since I tend to make a huge mug of tea, drink half, then start doing something and forget about the tea til it's stone-cold. I'll bet having a bottom on the cozy would help.

    1. I looked at a lot of mug cozy designs and most of them simply wrap around the middle of the cup which led me to wonder if they would be apt to 'slip' when you picked up the cup which could lead to a nasty burn. When I saw this design I thought it would not only be safer but also, in theory, keep the beverage from cooling out the bottom.

  3. I wonder what the collective noun is for knitters? Aside from group. A skein of knitters?

    1. I just consulted with Mr. Google and apparently it's a 'knab of knitters'....who knew!!

    2. Also found a 'cozy of knitters' - which is better (but I like skein too!)

    1. I must admit I'm not overly familiar with them either but the grandies are happy to 'educate' me!

    2. That's so sweet they want to tell you. I've enjoyed the moments with my Great Grandson when he wants to share his very valued books with me. He climbs right on the couch beside me to share.

    1. I must admit this grandma goes out of her way to make things for the grandies. I know the day will come when they will frown on such things.

  9. You are doing so well crocheting these impressive timely figures for the grandkids. Really neat! Also impressed with the balm making. You do keep busy with wonderful hobbies that I admire. Meanwhile, thanks for the links. Gobsmacked and shenanigans were two words I grew up with in Newfoundland.

    1. I hope the grandies like the toys because I sure had fun making them. I think I grew up using most of those words on the list...funny how they seem to have disappeared over the years.

  10. Until now I was a complete stranger to PJ Masks and Catboy, but I have to say yours looks great. And I love the mug cover - as well as the "packaging". May your gift box runneth over as you approach the holidays.

    1. I knew nothing about Catboy until our grandie shared it all with me. They grow in and out of certain characters/shows they like so hopefully he's still 'in to' Catboy by the time Christmas gets here!

Sherry of createology: MA you make the cutest characters for your Grandies. The Mug Cozy is a great gift to add to those cups of hot cocoa and peppermint sticks we give to delivery people and such. I adore Aprons and thank you for sharing such a great collection of styles and patterns. Your “Words List” is amazing…A Murder of Crows. Blessings Dear…

  14. You're such a wonderful Grandma and I love the new toy (can't say I've ever heard of him but what does that matter?) Love the mug cosy and it looks like it would knit up quickly. Have a good week! Hugs Christine xx

  15. Kudos to you for keeping track of all those characters for the littles. I try to remember who's who, but they always have to reeducate me. I've bookmarked that star and ordered the supplies - let's see if I can get to it. Love that kitty block too!

    1. I rely on the grandies parents to let me know what/who the kids are in to every year...otherwise I wouldn't have a clue. I'm always hopeful that when I make them something, that they're still interested in the character by the time Christmas rolls around.
