We have a finish!!!
This one is titled 'Abandoned Blues' - a play on words of sorts, referencing the fact the house is abandoned and so were the jeans I used to create it. Measures approx. 22x30".
- THIS is quite pretty - I envision it as a mug rug.
- Have a peek through the creations by THIS amazing artist!
- THIS would keep someone toasty warm over the winter.
- This is something some of you might find of interest...
Today's quote is from Bob Marley..."Some people feel the rain, others just get wet"
Congrats on another wonderful creation! I like the tonal palette on this one, and it's one of the best repurposings of denim I've seen :) Thank you so much for the bar code info. Country of Origin has always been a big deal to me, and as you say, it is often hard to determine. I love a good decoder!
ReplyDeleteThank you Quinn! I have always loved denim so it seemed a no-brainer to attempt using some in a landscape.
DeleteThe bar code information is interesting and I suppose it would be a good idea to print it (or save it on a phone) for reference when you're contemplating buying something.
Check your email for more landscape/rust/ truck trouble.
ReplyDeleteoooh - thank you! Inspiration is always welcome!
DeleteI've admired this as it's progressed. The finished 'portrait' is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nann - it's one of my favourites I think.
DeleteJust a lovely finish on this one--beautiful small details throughout. Hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThis one really didn't lend itself to any floral embroidery so I contented myself with doing some grasses instead. Thanks!
DeleteSherry of createology: Hello Dear. Your “Abandoned Blues” is delightful and I should think it will sell quickly. As always amazing links you share. Great quote.
ReplyDeleteI had fun revisiting my love for denim so I suspect this might not be my last one using it.
DeleteBeautiful quilting, it won't last long.
ReplyDeleteGreat links. I'm on the hunt for a winter hat and cowl.
I hope it sells because Mama wants a new sewing machine!
DeleteRE winter hats, I'm making one right now using my favourite super easy pattern ... https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sandoval-hat It uses just one ball of Paton's Canadiana but you can use pretty much any worsted weight you like.
Oh, I love your denim creation! What a fantastic way to repurpose that fabric. I'm torn whether to show my husband or not as he's been on me lately to do something with the stack of jeans I've been saving (along with a plethora of other things). I admire your creative energy and focus. And thank you for that bar code info. Good to know.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorraine! I had fun revisiting my love of all things denim with this one.
DeleteThis is so beautiful, you have a real talent with fabric.
ReplyDeleteThank-you for the explanation of the bar code.
Catherine
Thanks Catherine - I think I have altogether too much fun playing with fabric but at least it keeps me out of trouble.
DeletePerfectly named. I think you made the right choice to abandon the dimensional flowers as well. The house is abandoned after all. Superior job.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I really did try to justify putting flowers somewhere but it just didn't seem to want them.
DeleteSo lovely a finish. I agree with you the landscape really did not need or want flowers. Most of the abandoned houses around my area of Saskatchewan do not have flowers, rather they are mostly in the middle of a field of wheat, durum, or sometimes canola.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I tried really hard to add flowers but it simply didn't want them. This particular house is somewhere in the prairies so you're most likely right in thinking that it's in the middle of a field.
DeleteI think this is one of my favorites! The denim is so effective and I love the knot border.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vicki. Of course you know I like it - because it's blue AND it's denim.
DeleteMary Anne, I agree with Vicki W - I think it is one of my favourite fabric landscapes too. You are so clever. What is it about denim? I am like you, love working with it. Currently I have a request to make a denim quilt - it is quite scrappy, but I think it definitely improves it, having differing shades of blue, and many different shapes. Thank you again for the great links.
ReplyDeleteVal (UK)
I think each landscape is my favourite - until I do another one. I, too, love denim, although it's not gentle on my hands. I rather suspect I might end up doing another denim landscape at some point because it was fun to do. Hope I get to see pictures of your denim quilt when it's finished!
DeleteOooh, what an amazing finish! It looks fantastic and I really love the sky.
ReplyDeleteThank you Astrid! The original photo had such a wonderful moody sky and as soon as I saw it I knew it needed to be done with denim.
DeleteCongratulations on another beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
DeleteOh, Mary Anne, I really do like this latest finish. Very moody as you say the original picture was. I so admire your ability to imagine how your fabrics and different stitches will work in these landscapes. This one is definitely a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteThank you Becki! I'm glad you like this one because it's a favourite of mine too...could be because I love denim!
