Four hundred and twenty six (more or less)

Over the weekend I stitched (by hand) four hundred and twenty six inches of quilt binding and can happily say that I have gotten all the way around that massive quilt and I can almost call it DONE.  All that's left is to make the label and sew it on.  I still have the small quilt to do but my hands aren't happy so it will have to wait awhile.

Sorry about the bad pictures but the quilt is simply too
large to hold up.  Below is a bit closer and hopefully
you can see the quilting design a bit better.
They're both clickable to embiggen.

- There are lots of interesting ideas HERE to upcycle silverware.

- Enjoy the slideshow of THIS incredible artist!!!

- I thought THIS was interesting and might have to give it a try.

- And THIS as well.

The quote of the day is by Mindy Kaling..."Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something.  Especially not yourself"

  1. I liked the eco printing link, thanks. And about the quotation, so true, that we tend to make restrictions for ourselves without even noticing. Good reminder.

    1. You're welcome! I've never tried eco printing but would like to at some point.

    1. Thank you! I didn't hand quilt it - that's way outside my level of abilities.

    1. My hands got a liberal application of Voltaren and that helped.

Sherry of createology: Mary Anne Dear every hour and every stitch you put into this quilt has turned out to be a beautiful heirloom Work of HeArt. The long arm quilting is perfect with the flower hexies and borders. Such a beautiful quilt my friend.

  7. You counted each stitch as they 'skipped' around the binding??!! Hand stitching the binding onto a quilt is my least favourite thing when making a quilt. The quilt is gorgeous, Mary Anne! The quilting design is perfect. Sweet dreams sleeping under this beauty. Oh, I forgot to say, I love that 'she' kisses the floor. =)

    1. Good heavens no! Counting the stitches would have been more than I could handle - bad enough to add up the inches stitched! And no, we won't be sleeping under it because it's far too heavy and warm for us. It's strictly for 'show'.

  8. Gorgeous quilt, and I no doubt your hands are a bit achy.

    God bless.

    1. That thing is heavy, despite having the lightest possible batting inside. In hindsight we should have left the batting out altogether.

    1. Hah - might be gorgeous from a distance, but the quilt police would have an attack of the vapours if they looked at it up close!

    1. Thank you! It took me a couple of years to come up with a design that would work with what I had and I am very happy it's done.

    1. It's far too heavy to sleep under, at least in our apartment where it's always warm. It's being used more as a bedspread than a quilt (if that makes any sense!)

  15. Oh my, that's a lot of repetitive stitching! But wow, it really is beautiful.
I hope you rested your hands with a refreshing drink? Or maybe three or four?!
