Over the weekend I stitched (by hand) four hundred and twenty six inches of quilt binding and can happily say that I have gotten all the way around that massive quilt and I can almost call it DONE. All that's left is to make the label and sew it on. I still have the small quilt to do but my hands aren't happy so it will have to wait awhile.
you can see the quilting design a bit better.
- There are lots of interesting ideas HERE to upcycle silverware.
- Enjoy the slideshow of THIS incredible artist!!!
- I thought THIS was interesting and might have to give it a try.
- And THIS as well.
The quote of the day is by Mindy Kaling..."Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something. Especially not yourself"
I liked the eco printing link, thanks. And about the quotation, so true, that we tend to make restrictions for ourselves without even noticing. Good reminder.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I've never tried eco printing but would like to at some point.
DeleteYour quilt is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCatherine
Thank you! Resident Chef likes it so that's a good thing.
DeleteNice quilt and nice quilting!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I didn't hand quilt it - that's way outside my level of abilities.
DeleteVery nice! 💐
ReplyDeleteGive your hands a nice soak and lotion
Great links, I can use them all for projects.
My hands got a liberal application of Voltaren and that helped.
DeleteLovely quilt and quilting--great that you got it all done!! Hugs Julierose
ReplyDeleteI'm hugely relieved to put that project in the rear view mirror, that's for sure!
DeleteSherry of createology: Mary Anne Dear every hour and every stitch you put into this quilt has turned out to be a beautiful heirloom Work of HeArt. The long arm quilting is perfect with the flower hexies and borders. Such a beautiful quilt my friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm just happy I can call it done! That thing is HUGE!
DeleteYou counted each stitch as they 'skipped' around the binding??!! Hand stitching the binding onto a quilt is my least favourite thing when making a quilt. The quilt is gorgeous, Mary Anne! The quilting design is perfect. Sweet dreams sleeping under this beauty. Oh, I forgot to say, I love that 'she' kisses the floor. =)
ReplyDeleteGood heavens no! Counting the stitches would have been more than I could handle - bad enough to add up the inches stitched! And no, we won't be sleeping under it because it's far too heavy and warm for us. It's strictly for 'show'.
DeleteGorgeous quilt, and I no doubt your hands are a bit achy.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
That thing is heavy, despite having the lightest possible batting inside. In hindsight we should have left the batting out altogether.
DeleteAs we say around here, you've got one for the county fair there. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHah - might be gorgeous from a distance, but the quilt police would have an attack of the vapours if they looked at it up close!
DeleteAbsolutely stunning quilt!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It took me a couple of years to come up with a design that would work with what I had and I am very happy it's done.
DeleteThis is a gorgeous quilt. Wow! What fun it would be to sleep under this one.
ReplyDeleteIt's far too heavy to sleep under, at least in our apartment where it's always warm. It's being used more as a bedspread than a quilt (if that makes any sense!)
DeleteThe quilt looks absolutely fabulous Mary Anne! Well done for getting the binding on! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteIt was certainly a l-o-n-g way around that quilt! I'm very glad to have it done.
DeleteWhat a treasure! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThank you Quinn. It will be a very long time before I ever contemplate doing another quilt - if ever! Maybe for our grandies but that won't be for awhile.
DeleteIt's spectacular! Congrats on two big finished last week.
ReplyDeleteI'm just hugely relieved it's done! Now I have the joy of wrestling it on and off our bed on a daily basis.
DeleteOh my, that's a lot of repetitive stitching! But wow, it really is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hope you rested your hands with a refreshing drink? Or maybe three or four?!
There might have been a few beverages of the coffee variety consumed throughout.
DeleteOh, it's beautiful. And the quilting looks so perfect for it. Congrats on the finish!
ReplyDeleteI am beyond relieved that it's done, for sure.
