Quilt Show - Part 2....and, you just never know....

Sometimes things happen that mystify me.  I'm sure you will be greatly saddened to learn that I'm dead.  Yep - deader than a doornail.  At least according to the local funeral home I am.  Every once in awhile I google my own name just for the fun of it.  Imagine my surprise when I discovered that I'd died and that my obit was on the funeral home web site.

Hmmmm - maybe I should lie down?

I emailed the funeral home and, rather tongue-in-cheek, told them that I was very much alive, despite their evidence to the contrary.  It wasn't 5 minutes and the phone rang.  It was the director calling to apologize.  I did feel sorry for the poor man because of course I started laughing hysterically and finally he just gave up and laughed too.  He promptly removed the notice so I guess he'll just have to wait awhile longer to get his clutches on my cold dead body.

This week I will try to show you just a few of the quilts that caught my eye at the show.  These are only a portion of what was on display.

    1. For sure! Resident Chef wondered what on earth was the matter with me because I laughed so hard. Felt rather sorry for the funeral director who called me within 5 minutes of me emailing them to tell them I was very much alive. He tried his best to be properly solemn and apologetic and finally ended up joining me and laughing just as hard.

  2. Have you found out how it happened? Usually they don't print without establishing the bona fides of the person inserting the notice. I'd report this, because it could have been a serious issue. Make sure it hasn't affected any of your credentials, too, bank accounts etc can be frozen if they see a death notice. I'm taking this seriously. If it's a prank, it's a dangerous one.

    1. It wasn't a complete death notice/obit - just my name, so no dates or anything pertinent. I suspect it might be because we have an insurance policy whereby we pay $/month to cover the costs of our funerals and that it was some sort of computer glitch. They're looking into it anyway.

  3. Not a happy moment, I wonder who set the situation in motion.
    Glad you are alive.
I also google my name now and then. It is disturbing that information that is not public information, ends up online. None of the websites I contacted removed my name.

    1. It does pay to google yourself every once in awhile because you just never know what you might learn. I think the poor funeral director expected I would be upset but it simply struck me as being hilarious.

    1. There are lots of people with the same name as I have, but none with the same maiden name and that was included so it must be me!

    1. I'd really like to know what date I'm supposedly waking up dead because I truly want to celebrate cheating death! All they had was my married name and maiden name but no further details. Perhaps that's a good thing?!

  8. What gorgeous quilts. Way above my ability and such artistic talent.

Glad you got your death straightened out. The funeral director here was one of my youth group kids, and his wife is someone I worked with in the schools.... Hopefully he checks before he posts my obit.

    God bless.

    1. Thanks Jackie. I have fun playing with fabrics, for sure.
I must admit I'm mighty curious to know why the funeral home screwed up...don't suppose I'll ever know.

  11. Oh dear! What a kerfuffle! So glad you're able to laugh about it. Thanks for posting these beauties. I'm kind of coveting that swan. Been looking for a comforter with swans (that aren't pink) for a while now and it never occurred to me to look for a pattern.

The quilt show is the first one they've held since covid hit so it was extra fun to see the beautiful creations.

As for the obit - he had absolutely no clue, at least not then. Perhaps he's figured it out by now, but don't suppose I'll ever hear.

  15. LOL! The comments here are pretty good too. I think the funeral home should have at least sent you some flowers for that mistake. lol The quilts are just gorgeous. It's amazing to me how creative people are with fabric and thread.
