Done!

Many of you guessed correctly that what I showed you in my last post is a doll - the Topsy-Turvy Dolly design by Jean Greenhowe.  I've often wanted to make a topsy-turvy doll and having a wee granddaughter means that I can indulge myself.  Hope she likes it!

Just a simple little dolly for a wee little
girl!

- THIS is a pretty bag that could be made using scraps.

- And if you have any charm packs in your stash, perhaps one of THESE designs might intrigue you.

- I know I shouldn't mention anything to do with THAT date in December but sometimes I stumble across something that catches my eye as THIS did.  (ducking and running from all the rotten eggs being thrown my way).

- THIS is one of those things that just made me smile.

I think Kermit has this one right...

  1. She's going to love it. Those colors are beautiful together. No rotten eggs here - just wishing I'd saved some of the beads I used to make stars. Have a great week!

    1. I hope she likes it. And isn't that always the way - you get rid of something and then wish you'd kept it!

  2. Awww, the doll is precious. Good work
    Love the Kermit cartoon!
The wood bead tree nice idea. I am now wondering what else to use besides wood beads. Old broken jewelry pieces comes to mind.

    1. Good idea to try using jewelry pieces - that would make it sparkly!

  3. The double dresses explain why so much knitting. It's lovely, heck, I wouldn't mind one for myself!

    1. Yes, the double skirts took awhile to knit. 145 stitches per row didn't make it fast either!

Sherry of createology: I totally forgot about Topsy Turvy Dolls. My Grandma used to make them a lot with fabric and sewing. Isla will love hers that you have knit. Some really good ideas in your links. Kermit has it right!

    1. Would have been a lot faster to make it using fabric but I couldn't find a pattern. Of course now I don't need it one will turn up.

I like the charm pack ideas too - at least some of them.

    3. I hope she likes it. Hard to tell with little ones though - some things they love and some they take an instant dislike to. Will have to wait and see!

  8. I didn't read others' guesses and I never would have come up with a topsy-turvy doll, but now it all seems so obviously. :D Adorable! And beautifully knitted, too.

    1. I don't know if girls are more fun to create for but in my case it's fun because she's the first little girl in our immediate family and so she has to be spoiled just a little bit.

Oh Mary Anne, didn't the topsy turvy doll turn out beautifully. Really pleased. 145 stitches - phew!
As Sherry said - Kermit has it right, to avoid potential scams.

    1. Yep, 145 stitches times two for two skirts - it's no wonder it took awhile! It was worth it though because I'm happy with how she turned out.

    1. I hope our wee one likes it. If I ever were to make another I'd look for the sewn version because it would have been a lot faster to make.
