w-e-llllll......

I WOULD have had a picture to share with you.  Seriously.  However....when I checked the measurements of a child's head against the pattern I was using to make a hat I came to the realization that what I was doing simply wouldn't fit.  So....

Meet my friend the frog.
He and I are better friends than I care to admit.

And...no I won't mention the fact that I
cast on 108 stitches and promptly managed to
trip over my yarn and pull half the stitches
off the needles....no....won't mention that

- Thanks to Canadian Needle Nana I can share THIS link to exercises you can do to improve dexterity in your hands.

- The knitters among you might like to sign up for THIS knit-a-long.

- I found THIS article concerning pricing your handmade goods for sale to be quite interesting, however I must say that if I were to apply the principles to my landscapes I'd have to be asking at least three times as much as I do.   Considering it's hard to make sales at the current price, I can't imagine raising my price would garner any sales whatsoever.  Interesting to contemplate though!  Now, having said that, if you happen to be contemplating purchasing one of my landscapes for a Christmas gift, or asking about a special commission, now might be the time.  Don't wait until the Christmas rush happens and we run out of time! If you want to see what I currently have available check out the 'Landscapes For Sale' category in my sidebar.  This is a direct link to the 'For Sale category....go HERE.

- There are a number of fun ideas HERE for recyling denim.

- I'm afraid I can't find the originator of THIS - but it certainly caught my eye!  If you happen to know who made it, let me know so I can give proper credit.

- And just so I can never be accused of not being a full-service blog, you know you really wanted to know how to make THESE!

- And if you're making those, then you should make THESE to go along with.

- Have a peek through the wonderful works of THESE artists (click on 'gallery' and then scroll down)

- And THIS artist too!

Today the quote is from Stephanie Pearl-McPhee..."It is important for knitters to know two things about frogging:  that cats are capable of this knitting action, and even seem to enjoy it and seek opportunities to do it; and that foul language is a normal, healthy accompaniment to frogging, whether it is you or the cat that accomplished the task"

  1. Just as well you found out about the sizing in time to fix it.

As a fine artist (paintings, drawings, monotypes) I used to think I may as well put sky high prices on, since they rarely sold at reasonable prices anyway! One of my friends took this literally and had a mixed media small sculpture in a show priced at something like $35,072.28! The odd number was a signal that it was a joke, but I heard nonartists at the opening exclaiming in horror she expects THAT?? Joke on them!

    1. Hah - maybe I should start putting sky high prices on my things too! Somebody tried to tell me not to long ago that I needed to more than double my prices and that would force people into thinking they were getting something special and they'd happily pay the price. Ummm.....no......I'd like to sell a few rather than none!

    2. I've noticed the people who say that are being flattering but they don't offer to buy! But "somebody will!" Yeah right.

    3. Exactly! I see landscapes on offer on places like Etsy for exhorbitant prices and I wonder just how many of them actually sell. I won't make mine for less than what I ask but I'm making way less than minimum wage per hour I put in.

    4. While I'm monopolizing you anyway, I can't find the link or the sidebar you reference. Since I don't have a working laptop, I wonder if they only display on a computer? A link in your post would be helpful for the fans following you on tablets or phones perhaps. It could be my well known inability to find a red sock on a white bedspread at work. I clicked on a post labeled landscapes and commissions, lovely pix, no prices.

    5. Thanks for the suggestion - no sooner said than done. There are no prices listed on my blog - I ask that people contact me for that info. (and just so you know, the 'landscapes for sale' is the category directly beneath the post you found in my sidebar).

    1. It's always fun to see what Google can come up with using some of my silly search terms (and I agree about her books)

  3. Love the quote
I read parts if the pricing strategy. She makes a good point to factor in all costs.

    1. Yes, factoring in all the costs is a good thing but my downfall happens when it comes to getting paid for the time that goes into creating things.

  5. Is that Yarn Harlot quoting about frogging? I checked out most of your links...aren't those knitted pumpkins and vines gorgeous. I also liked the idea of making those paper stems. Really neat, always impressed with the creativity that abounds on the net. Thanks for giving me a shout out too.

    1. Yes, that's the Yarn Harlot and I thought this was a very fitting quote considering what I've been doing lately. (and you're welcome!)

Sherry of createology: You are so very clever and I thoroughly enjoyed this post. I needed to just relax and read. Hubby has another debilitating back issue and in massive pain. Got 2 epidurals yesterday and will get an MRI in two weeks (1st available!). I love the pumpkins with the brown bag stems. September here is beginning in the 107F-109F temps. Whew!

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
