MAGPIE'S MUMBLINGS

A blog about my interests, which include fabric landscapes and various and assorted other artsy pursuits and sometimes known to contain mumblings of a random nature.

Well then....

Well, that's 4 1/2 hours of computer time I'll never get back and a whole lot of angst on my part.  Resident Chef decided we needed to go on a quest yesterday to search out a possible solution for fixing our kitchen island cupboard so off we went, leaving me with doing my blog post last night.  Theoretically not a bad plan....until.....my computer virus program decided that it needed to do something called an 'Advanced Disenfection' which meant that I could do absolutely nothing but wait until it knocked every single dust bunny from every little corner.  Four and a half hours later it was bedtime and needless to say I went to bed in disgust - and no blog post even started.

So....no links....no pictures (for that matter no stitching done either)...but hopefully a squeeky clean computer.

Regular scheduled programming here at Chez Magpie should (fingers crossed) return on Monday.  Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Ugh--computer woes are not fun at all!!
I am in the throes of figuring out how to de-stash my WHOLE craft space and room...what should I keep, throw, donate??? Yikes--so many years of amassing "stuff"...I mean how much fabric do I really need if I am only going to make smaller items? It's like a bad dream!! :(((( hugs Julierose

    1. Oh goodness - I wish you luck! Better remember to leave some bread crumbs behind after you go in there so you can find your way out again.

Sorry you have to endure that.
A security measure taking that long is weird.
Back in the day, Windows updates hogged my system for hours. I still feel a bit of panic every time I see…don’t shut off your computer.

    1. I know that my anti-virus program does this once or twice a year so it's not unexpected, just aggravating. Windows did do an update in the past week so perhaps that triggered it. And yes, I agree - don't shut off your computer messages instill a great deal of fear and trepidation.

  5. Enjoy your weekend. I really do not like when various programs decide things need to be updated or cleaned up. Ruins my plans quite often.

    God bless.

    1. Most updates still let you work in the background but this one doesn't. Oh well, at least I know my computer should be clean now.

  6. My laptop automatically updated something or other recently, but fortunately I was on my way out to do chores and it was finished when I got back a few hours later. Then the fun began, waiting for the surprise of Things That Don't Work Anymore.

    1. Ah yes, the proverbial TTDWA that always seems to accompany updates. This particular update was generated by my Kaspersky anti-virus program but followed a more general update so who knows what I might yet find that's not working. Having said that, it seems whatever it did cleared up the issue I was having getting in to Pinterest.

  7. Four hours sounds crazy long for a computer cleaning. Last night as I was typing a blog post, our computer kept interrupting me to do an update. I kept putting it off. I finally told it to remind me again in two hours. Well two hours passed and I was reminded again. Yikes! Time to go to bed.
Hopefully, it did its thing while we were sleeping last night. Glad you're back online!

    1. Kaspersky seems to do this particular clean-out once or twice a year and it's always a long process. Unfortunately it doesn't give you the option of letting it work overnight and just unilaterally decides that 'now' is the time.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
