Road runners

Yesterday Resident Chef and I went on a little road trip in quest of some apples.  We like to go to a place called 'Algoma Orchards' which is about 45 minutes away and we pick up enough to last us a couple of months.  It was a lovely day for a car trip but alas it meant I didn't get any stitching done.  So....mumblings it will be....

- If you're in the throes of garden planning, perhaps you might want to take THIS into consideration.  And have a peek at THIS.

- THIS made me laugh.

- HERE are some other ideas for your garden.

- THIS is an awwwwww thing.  And so is THIS.

  1. How do you store the apples? I could use a tip.

    1. We keep about enough for a week out on the counter and the rest go in a small fridge we have in our storage room. It's not kept too cold but enough to act as a bit of a 'cold cellar' for a few preserves and extra apples and oranges.

  2. I am also a "Mumbler" when we have a lot of errands to do!! Sunny here today and nice enough for a walk on the CT Riverside boardwalk...so pretty hugs, Julierose

    1. I hate errands - such a waste of perfectly good stitching time!

  3. Cute chipmunk! The be waterer is a good reminder they like a sip now and then.

    1. Yes, that chipmunk made me smile, for sure. And anything we can do to help the bees is a good thing.

  4. Hmmm, I never thought of putting extra apples into the fridge. Must see how cold Harvey keeps the little fridge downstairs. It would be nice to be able to store apples when I am lucky enough to get them on sale.

    God bless.

    1. We don't turn the little fridge to a really cold temperature but hopefully it mimics the cold storage the apple orchards have. Seems to work for us. Resident Chef keeps his eye on them and if he sees any starting to soften he makes sure we eat them first.

  5. Supermarket apples at this time of year = cook them, maybe, but not so great to eat out-of-hand.

    1. True enough - that's why we go directly to the orchard . They're still not as good as they are in the fall, but much better than the stores.

Sherry of createology: How nice to have a day of road tripping. And to get fresh apples is a huge bonus. Fun links thank you. I think our Winter was very mild this year…I do know it isn’t over though. Creative Bliss Dear and lots of stitching time.

    1. Our winter here (at least so far) has pretty much been a non-event. Same can't be said for a lot of other parts of the country though.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
