Over the weekend I finished the latest landscape as you can see...
Measures approx. 22x25". It's based on the photo by Dale Stewart (below) and used with his always kind permission.
- There's another 'best of' quilt show HERE.
- I think THESE are cute - would make a nice gift, perhaps think ahead to Mother's Day?
- Although THIS is shown using Christmas fabric, I don't see why it wouldn't be perfect for other occasions throughout the year.
- Perhaps some of you might find THIS of interest.
- And THIS gave me an awwww-moment.
Today the quote is from Keanu Reeves..."The simple act of paying attention can take you a long way"
Your choices of the gray fabrics in this piece are just perfect...it really looks "painterly"--nice work hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteYay - thank you! I'm so glad it looks painterly because that's what I'm hoping for.
DeleteThe pie plate cosy is all about church suppers! Very nostalgic for some people. The latest landscape is the best to date, I think. I like this departure into grayscale
ReplyDeleteI actually thought the pie cosy would be useful to use when storing more than one pie plate in the cupboard, but it would be good for chuch suppers too.
DeleteThank you for the kind words about the landscape - every one I complete is my favourite (until I start a new one!)
Oh my it is stunning quilt.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the finish.
Catherine
Thank you Catherine. It was a fun one to do - outside my norm.
DeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteThe pie cozy is a delight to see. I think if I make one, then I will put handles on it.
I would use them as a storage solution between pie plates to keep them from getting chipped or broken. I do like the idea of handles though - if you were transporting a pie to an event.
DeleteThis looks exactly like a black and white picture. I love it.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you Jackie. I wanted to attempt something in B&W and might do another at some point. Need to augment my stash of fabrics in those tones first.
DeleteThe green moss on the log is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI thought the scene needed a bit of colour to bring it to life and hopefully the moss did the trick.
DeleteAaahh... the moss on the downed tree and all the other finishing touches bring this quilt to life. Beautiful, Mary Anne.
ReplyDeleteI had initially planned to do the moss with French knots and then remembered that by the time I did the hundreds of them that would be necessary my hands would be in full revolt. Glad I thought better of it, but still would rather have had that effect.
Deleteyou did a super job on that I love it, and like the other's said the moss on the downed tree really made it pop.
ReplyDeleteIt needed the moss, but I still would have preferred to use French knots, but I knew my hands weren't up to it.
DeleteCongratulations on finishing the landscape, that wheel shape makes a great focal point.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda! The wheel caught my eye when I first saw Dale's photo.
DeleteThis piece is so realistic. You do such amazing detailed work.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joy! I do try for realism so it's nice to know that you think I succeeded.
DeleteLove it!!!!! You're so talented! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Joy! I love playing about with my landscapes, for sure.
