A little bit of progress

There's been some progress on the latest landscape as you can see from the photo...

Our #2 son made it to Halifax for the trade show but it was sheer luck.  His original flight was cancelled due to the massive snowstorm in and around Halifax and he was rescheduled for Monday but with an additional stopover in Montreal.  He left here at 7 am Monday and just as he was on the plane from Toronto to Montreal he was informed that for his second leg of the journey he was bumped down to flying standby.  He was extremely lucky and was the very last one that they allowed on the plane.  Phew!  Having to stay in the airport overnight was not a pleasant prospect.  He got to Halifax safely and then worked hard  getting set up for the trade show.  Now it's to be hoped that his return to BC today will be uneventful.  He has a stopover in Calgary which is on a really tight timeline so hopefully he'll get out of Halifax and make his connection.  Although everything didn't go entirely as planned we got an extra day to spend with him so we're not complaining!  EDITED TO ADD:  Current update on his status - flight this morning was delayed out of Halifax which means he'll miss his connection in Calgary.  This entire trip has been nothing but a hassle for the poor guy.

- THIS is a rather cute quick project for Valentine's day.

- I thought THIS was intriguing - something that would be good to have on hand should the power go out in the cold weather. (scroll down for the how-to)

- Of course you know THIS would catch my denim-loving eye!

- HERE is another quick little project suitable for Valentine's day.

    1. Thank you Julierose! There's a ton of French knots on this one that I don't think really show up in the photo.

  2. Why why schedule national trade events, bringing people across the continent in FEBRUARY? I hope he eventually gets home

    1. Exactly!!! It's been nothing but stress for him, that's for sure. He will be very happy to get home I know. At least there's a number of flights from Calgary to Vancouver today so hopefully he can manage to get onto one of them.

What an ordeal. Between weather and schedules, it is a wonder anyone flies.

    1. Yes, flying certainly isn't for the faint of heart! He certainly has learned a lot on this trip and discovered he can handle pretty much anything. He's about an hour away from home now and we'll all be relieved when he gets there.

  4. The landscape is coming along nicely. When we came back from our Spain/Portugal trip we missed our flight to Saskatchewan due to a delay, and had to catch a flight from Vancouver to Calgary, where we almost missed the flight once again to Regina. Made it by the skin of our teeth.

    God bless.

    1. I hate traveling and certainly wouldn't want to have to tackle all the issues he did on his own. He certainly learned that it isn't fun.

    1. This landscape came together fairly quickly despite all the French knots I added. I'm glad #2 son is home from this one, that's for sure.

  7. I feel so bad for your son. I used to travel a lot for work and had a few trips like that. It's utter misery. Your new landscape, on the other hand, is beautiful! You are just amazing at them.

    1. Thank you Vicki. Yes, sometimes travel can be a huge challenge, especially in Canada in the wintertime. He's gone from Halifax where the snow is multiple feet deep to BC where the tulips are starting to grow and I'm sure he's more than glad to be home.

  10. Sorry he missed his connection, and all the stress that went with it. At least he's home now and hopefully can stay put for a while! But you got to benefit from his crazy travels, so that's a plus.
