I finished the latest landscape and am now awaiting delivery of some materials to attempt doing that old wagon wheel scene. On one hand I'm anxious to start on it but on the other I don't know if my skill set is quite up to that amount of detail. I guess we'll see!
measures approx. 24x20
hand and machine embroidery,
machine quilting
- I thought THIS was an intriguing design. Would look amazing done with hand dyes or batiks.
- THIS is beautiful - and would be fun to try.
- I know it's a tad early for Easter things, but you'd need some time to make THESE.
- THESE would be a perfect use for some precious pieces of pretty fabric.
- I think THIS is something we should all ponder and possibly pay attention to.
Today the quote is by C.S. Lewis..... "Have fun even if it's not the same kind of fun everyone else is having"
I have certainly been "Being Still" lately--i do like that article a lot--a lot of wisdom there--thanks for the link...
ReplyDeleteYour finished picture is just so lovely--wonderful work on this hugs, Julierose ;))))
I thought that article was well worth sharing so glad you enjoyed it. And thank you!
DeleteI like that shadow trapunto a lot. I might try that, since I love trapunto.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to figure a way to attempt using that technique on a landscape - will have to ponder that for awhile longer.
DeleteSherry of createology: Your Landscape is beautiful dear. I adore hearts and your links are wondereful. Nice quote. Blessings…
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry. This one was fun to do but entirely too easy so time to undertake something a lot more challenging.
DeleteHi just caught up on your posts. Of course, I had to click a few of those links. You do a great job of putting together a nice variety of subjects. The heart placemats in this list are lovely. I'm thinking of some of your projects and pretty sure your skills are up to the challenge. Love this post's quote.
ReplyDeleteGlad you found something in the links that was of interest. Hope you're right that my skills are up to the next challenge.
DeleteThat turned out great! I love the sky quilting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vicki!
DeleteMary Anne, Grand Ol' Dame is rather grand nestled in among the fields and trees and that glorious sky. The quilting of the sky is fabulous. I particularly love the straight line quilting, as rays of the sun dancing with the birds. Of course the house is superb. All that stitching....wow! You truly have a wonderful gift in imagining and creating the most sublime landscapes. As for your old wagon scene.....I can't wait to see what you dream up!
ReplyDeleteBetter not hold your breath too much waiting for what I might do with the wagon wheel scene...could be a complete dud. I have ideas but whether I can translate them into actuality remains to be seen.
DeleteWOW tHIS IS FANTASTIC!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue - glad you like it!
DeleteI think this could be my favourite (though I say that about all your landscapes).
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I think every one is my favourite and then I do another one and prove just how fickle I can be.
DeleteWow, it's just beautiful! I love the sky with the different colors of blue and quilting xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Joy!
DeleteOh my gosh this is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCatherine
Thank you Catherine - glad you like it!
DeleteCongratulations on finishing another beautiful piece. Go for the challenge. You're very good at details. The C.S. Lewis quote here is a good one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joy. I'm going to attempt the challenge but keep procrastinating on getting started.
DeleteSo much to look at in your technique for this landscape. What type of batting do you use? Like you, I like best the latest one you have worked on. The article about being still is hitting home. Fighting a depression episode, and although I know I will get through it, it is dark when fighting it. Thank you for your blog. It does lift my spirits and gives me something to look forward to. God bless you. Pamela P.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pamela. The batting I use is whatever I can find - most often polyester because it seems to be readily available.
DeleteI, too, battle depression at times so I know what you're going through. Do you have a 'happy light'? I use one for an hour each day and it seems to help.
Please tell me about your happy light
DeleteThe brand name on mine is actually 'HappyLight' - purchased it through Amazon. It has settings on it that allow you to sit in front of a light for anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour and it has three different degrees of light - daylight, warm, and something else I can't recall. I usually put it on the brightest setting and spend an hour with it on while I'm putzing on the computer. They suggest you build up using it slowly and don't start out at the highest amount. As I remember it wasn't hugely expensive.
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous landscape quilt! I love it, it reminds me of my late uncle's home.
ReplyDeleteWish I could have seen it when it was in its prime but then again, it wouldn't have appealed to me then.
DeleteBeautiful quilting, the sunrise makes the whole scene uplifting.
ReplyDeleteBeing still isn't a challenge. lol
Thank you! I am one who finds being still a challenge - I need to be doing something pretty much all the time.
DeleteTerrific finish, Mary Anne. You captured that old house beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThank you Becki! It was a fun house to try to replicate.
DeleteAnother beautiful finish, I especially love the sky.
ReplyDeleteThanks Astrid.
DeleteHow beautiful! I love your spin on the photo - all those brilliant details in the sky and the textures are fabulous. And thank you for the egg cover link - I might use some of my collection of cotton thread for those with some wooden eggs I have stashed away.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Glad you found a link that might inspire a project for you.
