First of all, thank you for all your kind comments after our freak storm last week. As of now, our car is in the process of being repaired...or at least the parts are ordered and once they're in, the windshield and the tail light will be fixed. The pock marks from the hail will take a little longer because there are tons of vehicles in the same state that are awaiting repair and we'll have to wait our turn.
Now, on to a more fun subject (at least for me anyway!)...the landscape. As you can see the details have mostly been added to the truck and I have quilted the sky area. Next 'up' will be the foreground and then I can play with the embroidery part of it. Foreground is quilted too! This one, I think, will have lots of embroidery before I call it done.
- If you have bits of leftover yarns in your stash, perhaps one or two of the ideas found HERE will be helpful to use them up.
- THIS made me laugh out loud. And THIS one I'm sure is a self-portrait when I'm frustrated with my sewing machine!!!
- See? I'm not the only one that's using hexies in quilts...go HERE!
- There are a number of really fun bookmark designs HERE.
Instead of a quote, this appeared in my Facebook feed and I thought it was something worth sharing. You can't be too careful!
ReplyDeleteReally good to know about the "Yes" scammers!!
I like your piece a lot--using hexagons is great...hugs, Julierose
I had read about the 'yes' scam before and probably shared it on my blog then, but thought it would bear repeating.
DeleteSpammers are annoying and it's so easy to be trapped by them! The landscape quilt is coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteYes, there seems to be more and more scams out there all the time so we have to be aware. Thanks for the compliment!
DeleteThat warning is very good. Many years ago I had a call, someone asking for me by name, and I said yes, this is she. Shortly after, an aggressive man was literally banging on my front door claiming I'd agreed to some house reno, and if I refused, he would sue! I pointed out that it was a rental, I couldn't have agreed, didn't, and he better leave. He finally did, after punching at the front door. So I never answered with the word yes again. This is an old scam, worth being alerted to.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's an old scam, but one we should be reminded of regularly. You're a case in point that it happens.
DeleteSherry of createology: Hello Dear. Your landscape is looking excellent. All the hexies really add to the subtle texture of the sky. Love the truck and sign. Thank you for the phone warning. I would have naturally said yes. Hope your car gets repaired quickly.
ReplyDeleteI really think the hexies are working out just fine, despite Resident Chef's misgivings. I'm ready to start the embroidery next so that will take me awhile.
DeleteGlad you found the warning timely!
Beautiful quilt, it is such an amazing idea to use hexagons for quilting, have you ever entered anything in your county fair or state fair, just curious, if so please tell us about in a post.
ReplyDeleteThank-you for the links the horses made me laugh.
Catherine
No, I haven't entered my work in the local fair, mainly because there's no available category for them, as well as having to pay an entry fee even if there was. The best I could do was put them into the local quilt show.
DeleteGlad you enjoyed the horses - they made me laugh too.
I'm glad your most urgent car repairs will be done soon! It's a really good time to be an auto repair person. I love how your landscape is coming together. The hexie sky is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vicki! I'm glad the sky has turned out the way I'd hoped. As for the car - we await the insurance adjustor to tell us what to do next.
DeleteLove how the landscape is shaping up. It saddens me greatly that we have to constantly be so vigilant not to be scammed! Thank you for the warning! Christine xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to start the embroidery today which will likely take me awhile.
DeleteScammers, too bad they wouldn't turn their attention to doing good instead of evil.
I am glad to hear that the vehicle is being repaired.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the embroidery on the landscape. It is looking so good.
God bless.
I always enjoy the embroidery part. Part of my crazy quilting background coming out I expect.
DeleteThanks for sharing that scam - I'd not heard of it. I've gotten out of the habit of answering my phone, as 99% of the calls (conservative estimate) are rubbish. Unfortunately, some of the calls from healthcare places show up as something unrecognizable on caller ID, which is baffling. But at least they leave a message so I can call back.
ReplyDeleteWe don't answer our phone either, for the same reason. We have call display and unless it comes up with a name or number I recognize it goes unanswsered. As you say, they'll leave a message.
DeleteThanks for the phone warning. I have finally learned just to not answer calls my phone doesn't recognize. They have to first leave a message.
ReplyDeleteSeveral here have gone through hail storms. Small dents a lot of times pop back out while sitting in the very hot sun for a while.
We don't answer numbers we don't know either - if they want us badly enough they can leave a message.
DeleteWe're hopeful the dents can simply be popped back out because apparently there's some sort of machine/equipment that aids with that. A glorified bathroom plunger maybe?
It should be easy to remember not to say yes, but we can be caught off guard. We've stopped answering those calls from numbers we don't know figuring they can leave a message. We're also one of the few people I know who still have a land line in the house in addition to cell phones. I love the hexies as the sky background. This is really going to be a beauty!
ReplyDeleteWe still have a land line - have to in order to be able to 'buzz' people in to our building. I suppose there might be a way to tie in a cell phone to the system but it wouldn't work for me because I so rarely bother even turning the cell phone on.
