I'm sure some of you get tired of seeing me working on yet another landscape but I can't help it - I'm obsessed. So....whilst cleaning up my sewing room I came across a bag of leftover hexies from when I made the bed quilt. Not one to want to waste anything, and fresh off the hexie sky in the last landscape, I decided I'd utilize the greens and turn the tables so to speak and make the grass using them. My grandmothers would be SO proud!
This is the photo I'm working from, once again shared with the kind permission of Dale Stewart...
- Sometimes I come across the most obscure things, as THIS will attest. I suspect Resident Chef would like one for one of his many hats. Trouble is...if I make just one...he'll want a dozen. That man has a LOT of hats!
- Pour yourself a cuppa and have a peek through the galleries of THESE artists.
- And peek through the galleries of THIS artist too! I love her use of colour.
- Many of THESE intrigued me.
Today I felt this quote is a fitting one, considering all that so many people are going through right now dealing with the effects of storms and wildfires...
We should have known you'd soon be onto a new landscape! The quotation is very good. So many people suffering from storms, earthquakes, some both at once, heat and its hardships, too.
ReplyDeleteI am nothing if not predicible!
DeleteHello Sweet Friend: It is always a pleasure to see what you are working on.
ReplyDeleteThank-you for the interesting links.
Catherine
Glad you enjoy both seeing what I'm doing AND the links as well.
DeleteOh goodie, I already know I'm going to love this new one since it starts immediately with hexies. Great idea to use leftovers.
ReplyDeleteI've been casting about for ideas of what to do to use up the leftover hexies and it dawned on me that some of the greens might translate into being 'grass'. Win/win!
DeleteOh goodie-- ;))))I do love how your hexies look in a landscape format!! Great photo to work from...I love seeing how your pictures come to life...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoy seeing the landscapes develop - I'm often afraid I'm boring people!
DeleteI really enjoy watching how you do these landscapes. Your grandparents would definitely be proud of your using it up effort.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
My Grandmothers were both scrappy quilters so I guess I come by it honestly.
DeleteSherry of createology: My comment yesterday would not post. Your green hexies were just waiting for a chance to be in your latest landscape. They are perfect for the grass. So many amazingly talented artists in your links. We all must have hope in order to live in today’s world. We finally have a bit of rain!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're getting some rain! It's so needed in so many places and yet in others they're drowning in it. Don't know what happened to your previous comment....hmmm.
DeleteAnother fabulous project started. I think it is going to be as fantastic as the last! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteWe'll see how fabulous it will end up being, but I'm always hopeful!
DeleteJust caught up on your posts. That is a beautiful piece in your last post, Mary Anne. You do amazing work and I've read ahead and know you are using hexies to make beautiful interesting grass. I've just downloaded a free hexie pattern to use up some scraps. Yes, our grandmothers would be proud! Thanks for all the amazing links. I usually look through when I go to bed...always interesting to me what catches your eye. Much cooler here these days and a lot of cloud too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jocelyn! Hexies are fun to work with but definitely time-consuming to make. Glad you enjoy the links as I do yours!!
DeleteLooks like you're off to a great start with those hexies. Wonderful way to use them up.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't simply toss them out so glad I thought of using at least some of them like this.
