cough, cough.....

Sixty + (cough, cough) years ago
guess who wore these?

And....just for proof of same...

- Have a scroll through THIS to see the works of another amazing embroiderer.

- I came across THIS pattern for a shawl that supposedly will stay on better than most.  The pattern as shown here is quite small but if you look at the "About This Pattern' area you will see a number that have been made larger which I think would be more useful.

- If you happen to have a flannel shirt hanging around  perhaps making one of THESE might be the perfect use for it.

- And if you have several flannel shirts, perhaps you'd like to make one of THESE?  I'd love one but alas no flannel shirts to upcycle.

Today's quote is from Reiner Pilz..."What we need is upcycling - where old products are given more value, not less"

  1. Adorable!
The Scots embroiderer's work is bold and interesting.

    1. Those outfits are heading out in the mail to our wee grandie - and Grandma is hoping for photos of her modeling them.

  2. Lovely outfits! They've been handled with care. I hope you get to see Isla wearing them.

    1. I doubt she'll be able to actually wear them, at least not for long, because the fabric is quite fragile. Good enough for a fun photo op though!

    1. Really wish there were more baby pictures of me around but unfortunately there are only a few. Just lucky that this particular one had me wearing one of the dresses.

    1. I don't think the outfits would stand up to actual wear but they'll be find for a photo op I'm sure.

Sherry of createology: Mary Ann you are so adorable!!! The barn in the background is pretty nice too. Do you know of Michelle Palmer who hand draws with pen and ink? She loves to draw on precious delicate baby clothes. I bought a soft pink dress from her with a wee little mouse on it. She has an Etsy site and is on FB. She is in Rochester NY.

    1. Yes, I certainly do know of Michelle and actually have a couple of her drawings. She does amazingly detailed work.

    God bless.

    1. Good for you! I had to get rid of most of the sentimental stuff when we moved into the apartment because there simply wasn't space. I was surprised to come across these little dresses because I thought I'd gotten rid of them long ago.

Those baby garments were very much on style 60+ (cough, cough) years ago as I have pictures of myself in such (cough, cough) back then.
Your embroidery works are better than the site you shared today. I'm a bit more on the realistic side.

    1. Glad you have pictures of you wearing the outfits! There's really only a couple baby pictures of me and it's just complete fluke that I happen to have one of these outfits on.
Awww - thank you for the kind comment about my work! Try as I might I can't seem to create other than with realism, despite my best efforts to the contrary. I guess I must have a sense of my own style...who knew!

  8. I have a bag full of my husbands flannel shirts that I've always wanted to make a quilt from as well as a significant supply of outgrown/wornout jeans. My husband wanted me to get rid of them recently and I refused. Maybe I'd better do something with them.

    1. I really liked that quilt design and if I had the flannel I'd happily make one. Alas Resident Chef hates shirts so only can be convinced to put one on if it's a dress up occasion and even then he's hugely reluctant.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
