We interrupt this blog.....

Okay folks - it seems that the Powers That Be (those that like to complicate our lives beyond all reasonable expectations) are monkeying about with our blogs and how they work.  It appears that something is happening with the European Union called the GDPR.    I don't know about you, but I haven't a clue what they're blathering on about.  I've read a number of things about it, but unless you're fluent in computer-eeze it's all as clear as mud.  If you understand it and know how to deal with it using Blogger I'd sure appreciate a tutorial in language that makes sense.  If you would/could email me that and give me permission I'd love to share it on my blog so others could make sense of it too!  (marmic1954 AT hotmail DOT com).

In the meantime, the thing that seems to be affecting me most at the moment is that your comments are not showing up in my email box, which is where I am able to answer you easily.  I haven't yet figured out how/if I can answer directly on my blog (I know some bloggers do) and although I don't like having to do it that way because it means an extra step for you, it appears it might be my only option.  So.....if you don't receive responses to your much appreciated (and very anticipated!) comments in the manner to which you're accustomed, please forgive me....and blame those idiotic Powers That Be!!!!

H - E - L - P ?????

EDITED TO ADD:  I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to respond individually to your comments directly on my blog without having to post a whole new comment that then doesn't link directly to YOUR comment.  I hate this!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Until I get this figured out, please know that I AM getting your comments, I AM reading them, and I AM appreciating them.  I have my blog set so that I have to moderate comments in order to avoid all the spam I keep getting, so if it takes a bit for your comment to show up, that will be why.

Anybody know how to fix the commenting issue???

  1. Well said, Mary Anne! I too would love a tutorial on how to comply with the Powers that Be in order for me to resume my happy little bloglife. Who would have thought that blogging could be filled with so much angst. It's enough to say goodbye to blogging forever. Here's hoping someone who reads your blog will be able to help you and I. By the way, there are many others having the same problems re comments not going to their emails. Let's hope this can be resolved sooner rather later.

  3. Yes, life's ups and downs and frustrations!
But this will get figured out one way or another.
We are after all creative people, Maybe we could all start writing letters?
Or using carrier pigeons? Can you imagine that?

  4. I don't know if this will be the fix, but I just checked mine and I too am not receiving e-mails anymore. So I went to my Blogger Dashboard and on the left side chose Settings. Then I chose Posts, Comments, and Sharing. On the right side I then scrolled down to Comments and where it said Comment Moderation added my e-mail address. I haven't received any comments since then so I don't know if that's going to fix it, but that's what I tried. (Of course when I tried to comment on my own post it didn't need moderation.)

  5. That last step should have read Comment Notification e-mail, not Comment Moderation.

  6. Hello Mary Anne! Yes, it is frustrating isn't it?!! I read on the Blogger Help Forum this morning that Blogger are updating their emailing system and that the problem should be sorted in the next week or so. In the meantime, I think you cannot reply to comments on your blog because you have the comments moderator setting on. If you turn it off then you should have the option to reply or delete comments directly below where they have been left. I might be wrong about this though.... I'm no computer expert!! 7. Here I thought it was just me - that I had accidentally bumped something on my way out of my blog one day and turned off this feature. I have no solutions, but I have some thoughts.

The first thought I have is to thank you for offering to post the solution here if someone should let you know what it is.

Secondly... I sometimes like reading through comments and the blogger's responses to them, so I, for one anyway, don't mind at all if you write responses here. I think it just adds to the interest of the post. I sometimes write responses and sometimes I don't. Mostly it depends on the time I have, and I figure most bloggers are the same way (though some simply never respond to comments and that is okay by me, too).

Lastly, the biggest problem I have with what's going on is I depend on getting an e-mail telling me I have a comment so I am sure to get back to my blog to read those comments in a timely manner. It also helps me eliminate SPAM comments quickly. Those are my bigger issues with this glitch.

Thanks again, Mary Anne for calling my attention to this as a problem that blogger needs to fix - not me, as opposed to it being something I need to do on my end (hopefully).

  8. To all who have responded to my post....at the moment the only way I can respond to you is via making a comment here. I thank you for your input and I've tried several of the options suggested and have had no luck. For the life of me I can't find how to turn on the 'reply' feature here in the comment section so at least I can reply ON your comment (and not have to write a whole new comment). I know other bloggers have that features and haven't been able to come up with the right combination of whatever-it-takes to add that to mine. Please bear with me....I'm trying to figure it out!!! In the meantime, if you have any further suggestions, please share....thank you!!!!!!!!

  9. These new changes really are getting people all confused. I can see a number of bloggers stress levels rising! Yikes! No worries about replying to me. Hope it all gets sorted out soon.

  10. I am no help what-so-ever. I am seeing lots of bloggers having these same issues. I shall have to wait it out and see if Blogger resolves itself. I am so technically challenged and have no time for this now that I will just have to wait for worse yet...quit blogging. I love your blog and the interactions we bloggers have and the friendships we have formed. Why do people have to muck things up?!!

  11. Blogger is making changes. That usually messes things up for a time until they get it all figured out. I have learned not to try to fix stuff until they are done. Give it a couple of more days and we'll see if things are back to normal.
    xx, Carol

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
