The hydro crews are still working at restoring power in some areas and the clean up is ongoing. Pretty much every house we drive by here in town has a mound of tree limbs waiting for crews to come along and deal with them. It will likely take several weeks before it's all cleared away. Luckily the second storm wasn't nearly as bad although we did have a few hours of ice pellets and snow mix. Our power stayed on so we were among the lucky ones. Some people have power but no access to internet or tv.
I spent my time (when I wasn't huddled beneath blankets) working on the latest landscape and the embroidery to this point...
AND....big excitement when the UPS driver delivered this....
I won one of the giveaways celebrating Donna's 16th blogiversary and she sent me all these goodies! There's a book she wrote about counted thread embroidery, one of her sampler patterns, along with some beautiful DMC threads, a packet of tapestry needles, and a project bag. Lucky me!! Thank you Donna!!!!
- THIS is a cute redwork quilt design you might like.
- HERE is a nice Easter basket that would be fun to make. Not only for Easter either!
- THIS is an awwww thing.
- I thought some of you might be interested in THIS.
Here is your quote..."Don't leave anything for later. Later, the food gets cold. Later, you lost interest. Later, the day turns into night. Later, people grow up. Later, people grow old. Later, life goes by. Later, you regret not doing something...and you had the chance"
your embroidered flowers are, as always, beautiful...
ReplyDeleteyeah, later is not good - it's better than never, but...
Thank you Dianne...I love playing with embroidery so it's no hardship to spend days working on this part of a landscape.
DeleteWhat a great prize! Lucky you. One of my friends used to say may as well do it now, tomorrow won't be easier!
ReplyDeleteLucky me indeed! Your friend had a good saying because it's right, tomorrow won't be any easier.
DeleteCongrats on your win--lovely gifts...
ReplyDeleteYour embroidery on this piece is just lovely;)))
I especially like the temperature quilt idea with the squares and circles--great for charm packs usage--i am trying to use up what i have on hand these days--like those jelly rolls...so much fabric in them
Hope the clean up will be the last you will need from winter's storms.....hugs, Julierose
I was very lucky to be a winner and am very happy with my goodies.
DeleteI always eye 'temperature' projects and contemplate (fleetingly) making one. I don't make 'real' quilts but could do a knit or crochet version. Then, however, I look at the sheer volume of yarn colours I'd have to buy and the contemplation comes to an abrupt end.
Sherryofcreateology: Congratulations on being a Winner of Donna’s Sixteenth Blogiversary. You will love your gift. This landscape embroidery is looking divine. It really brings life to the grass. Very grateful your second storm was milder.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry - I don't normally win things so it came as a big surprise. And yes, we're grateful too!
DeleteYes so far April has been a disappointment weather wise. More weather warnings here this morning in our part of Ontario. Freezing rain and rain, Ugh! I enjoyed seeing your bird photos...the red Cardinal amidst all that ice is stunning. I had to enlarge your piece here to admire your lovely flowers. Just beautiful! What fun to get such a win in the mail too. Take care, J
ReplyDeleteI think it could be said that March went out like a lion this year. I hope you don't get the freezing rain, certainly will be thinking of you.
DeleteI wish I had a better camera when it came to capturing the cardinal photo but my little camera wouldn't focus any closer. At least you can tell it's a cardinal!
What an awesome win. It has been chilly here, but this week we are supposed to be warming up.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
We had a couple days when we were relatively warm but it's back to being cold here again.
DeleteHello MA: Here in Minnesota in the past week, warm, cold, snow, ice, sleet, and warm again.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt, glad you were able to come out of the blankets to stitch.
Nice winnings, thank-you for the link to Donna's site.
The yellow chick is a hoot.
Thanks for the links.
Catherine
The weather doesn't seen to know what to do with itself. Glad you enjoyed the chick!
DeleteGlad the second storm wasn't as bad.. love the embroidery on your landscape and woo hoo for the goodies in the mail!! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, goodies in the mail is definitely a fun surprise.
DeleteHopefully there will be no more ice storms this spring. They are bummers! I am loving the landscape piece. Your embroidery is beautiful! Mary @ Hilltop Post
ReplyDeleteThank you! If we never see another ice storm it will be too soon. I'd rather have snow than ice.
DeleteI've been distracted lately so only now catching up on your ice storm posts! Hope the heat is back on now. Congratulations on the prize package! Thanks for the links...that woven basket is intriguing. (How do people think up these things?) And the quote is most appropriate.
ReplyDeleteOur hydro was only out for 5 hours the first time and then went out again for just over 24. I think, because we live in an apartment building where there are a number of people in walkers and wheelchairs, that they tried to get our power back on quickly. There are still some outlying areas where it's still not on so we consider ourselves very fortunate.
