More bubbles

The canning caper continues here at Chez Magpie and this time we made Onion Garlic Relish which, in a photo, doesn't look a whole lot different than the apple pie jam.  Trust me, it is!  I don't know where I found the recipe so can't point you to it, but if you're interested let me know.

And...I finished the postcards.  You will notice that I changed my mind about the design and instead went for something faster to make.  It's proving to be a moot point though because the mail system here is at a standstill while Canada Post is on strike.  Who knows when the mail will start moving again so the postcards (along with all the rest of the cards) will sit and wait.

- THIS fellow made me laugh.

- THIS little guy is cute too.

- HERE is an easy and useful gift idea.

- Going HERE will lead you to multiple pages filled with great projects.

Today's quote...."I grew to understand that people don't always build walls to keep others out.  It is done out of necessity to protect whatever is left within"

  1. I'm probably stealing your card idea, because how fun to get to use the different machine decorative stitches we never use.
My mail carrier daughter just told me they cut her route so she can get back to the post office at 5:30 instead of 7. However, It also cut her down 4 pay grades. THEN they couldn't find people to hire to take over the 9 new routes the cut created (during the horrific busiest time of the year), so they directed her to work her day off to cover those routes. She doesn't get paid more for that 6th day nor for the extra hours she's back to doing. They also asked her to cover part of another route which was optional and she'd get overtime for that. She had to turn that down, because she's exhausted. Sounded like a sneaky way to pay them less for more work. The union can't help them, because no rules have been broken. I wonder if something like this is going on in Canada?

    1. You're welcome to steal the idea because it wasn't mine in the first place!
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised the same thing is happening here to our postal workers. I strongly suspect that we only get mail delivery at our building 3x/week rather than the 5x they claim they do. In the summer we can pretty much count on most weeks not getting mail on Fridays and Mondays so they can have a long weekend. Can't prove it though.

  2. Another postal strike? Canada post seems to be in disarray. More time to make stuff, I suppose.

    1. It sounds as though the government will be forced to legislate them back just to keep the economy moving. And now they're threatening a rail strike which means products won't be moving. Couple that with the dock strikes along the coasts not letting goods in and it's going to be a, pardon the expression, s--t storm pretty soon.
