And.....a switcheroo!

Yes, the studio space here at Chez Magpie has made the switch from shoveling mode into full-bore Christmas makings, beginning with a few cross stitched postcards.  I started one design (the poinsettia) and decided it would take too long and have now switched to the tree design.  Once I add the beads I think it will be rather cute.  Might peek in my fabric stash to see if I have something that could be used as a 'table' for the tree pot to rest on.  Or maybe I won't.  Jury's out.

Still have to pick out the waste canvas.

Oh, and our Christmas shopping for each other is done.  Now, after yet more moving of stuff, these two have been delivered...

In case it's hard to tell, it's a matching set of small-sized fridge and freezer that fits just exactly into the corner in our storage space.  Our old freezer was running constantly and we knew it was just a matter of time before it conked out.  We got it second-hand and have no idea how old it is.  The fridge replaced a bar-sized one that was held together with just a little too much duct tape.  We'll put a bow on them Christmas day and call it done.

- Knitters and crocheters might find THIS something useful to know. It looks somewhat confusing but there's a video for those who find them better than written instructions.

- THIS is for those of you that are interesting in weaving.

- And THIS is something quilters might find useful.

- There are some fun designs HERE.

Today's quote..."Expect nothing, appreciate everything"

  1. Happy new fridge freezer!
Beautiful Christmas makings! Tis the season.
Holiday cards are top of the list.
The fun designs link has some neat tutorials. I saved the star earrings because it is so easy to read.

    1. So far we like the new fridge and freezer....the fridge holds more than the old one did but the freezer doesn't so it was a trade off.
I like some of the tutorials at that site too...hard to choose.

  2. Those new appliances will probably be more fuel efficient, too, a nice plus. When I replaced my ancient fridge, my electric bill dropped nicely.

    1. I have no doubt they are, although we won't know because our electric usage is included with our rent.

Sherry of createology: I cherish your postcards I have received dear. I now know what waste canvas looks like. Merry Christmas to you and RC for the new Fridge and Freezer. They look very handy and pretty. I do appreciate everything however sometimes I slip and expect something. Yes I am a naughty girl.

    1. I used to use a lot of waste canvas for different projects but now I'm finding it hard to see. One of the joys of getting older!

    1. Resident Chef and I made the decision to buy something 'for the house' instead of individual gifts several years ago. There's usually some little thing under the tree to open but that's usually just something like our favourite candy.

  6. I am trying to convince Harvey that our next big purchase should be another upright freezer. Our chest freezer is around 35 years old and I am worried that some day it will quit on us.

Love that weaving link and may give it a try.

    God bless.

    1. I suspect your 35 year old freezer is likely sucking hydro so you might find a difference there. Our apartment-sized upright was running all the time so we knew it was time to replace it.

    1. Well, I'm sorry to say I didn't end up going with my original plan and ended up making something else instead. Hopefully I'll finish these for next year.

    1. We get a couple of small things, usually some of our favourite candy and a couple books, to put under the tree but nothing big unless it's for the 'house'.
