The evolution of a shed

Work continues on the latest landscape with some additions to the shed/barn - still a ways to go there.  I also quilted the border but it's impossible to see because I used gold thread which blends in.  I've outlined the lightning with silver and now am pondering what I'll do with the rest of the sky/clouds.

- If you're wanting to declutter, perhaps THIS simple approach might be inspiring.

-....and....another awwwwww HERE.  And how about THIS one?

- Have a look at THIS and be prepared to be awed!

- Although THIS is a paid pattern, it caught my eye.

- THIS could be done for Valentine's, but would be a wonderful gift anytime of the year.

  1. Thanks for the "five a day" link. It seems that the top layer of stuff is thin and thus easier to sort--but gradually the layers deepen and solidify, so are harder to chip away. And now that you're 'building' a shed, inquiring minds want to know what's in it. LOL.

    1. I like the 5 a day idea - it seems manageable somehow.
What's in the shed? Cobwebs and birds nests!

  2. Did you paint the barn or is that appliqued fabric? Amazing imagery.

    1. The barn is a combination (at least right now) of appliqued fabric and paint. Still needs to have the barnboards added.

  3. Love how the sky is looking in your Shed piece--coming along so well;)))
I really like that "Five A Day" process--thanks so much for the link...I won't have to look far for them hahaha hugs, Julierose

    1. I was intrigued by the 'five a day' idea too - doesn't sound like much on any given day, but adding it up over a month means quite a bit gets dealt with.

  4. Your landscape is coming along nicely. I will check out the links a bit later.

    God bless.

Sherry of createology: Your dramatic landscape is looking so good. I see your stitching on the lightning. With all the drama of the fabric I feel the sky needs nothing more…however You will see whatever it needs. Maybe the cabin needs some dim orange is lights in the windows. I love Amigurami but have not crocheted any. I think my aging hands won’t work well. The Coral project of crochet is beyond amazing! My organizing always lands me in a worse mess than before I began!!! Happy Week Dear…

    1. Thanks Sherry! Hmmm - lights in the windows of the shed would have to mean that there are boards off on the backside in order to let the light from the lightning show through. Hmmm... pondering that one!

    1. Not much clever about this one - the sky was already 'done' so I just added a few little things to complete it.

    1. It's getting there, bit by bit. I don't think there will be embroidery on this one, or if there is, it will be very minimal.

  10. Wow, that creation took an unexpected turn! Somehow I was picturing an open landscape, like the desert or the plains of Manitoba, or the Grand Canyon or some such! I should have known better :)

  12. Oh my goodness! I was just reading my old blog on blog spot. Thesearedbluehaircomment. I was reading all the comments and seeing how you always commented on my posts! You were around when my mom had just died and so I did a project called 100 faces in 100 days. I painted 50 human and 50 animal faces. It was pretty cathartic! Anyway I just thought I’d check to see if Magpies Mumblings was still going! Glad to see your still around! I’m not blogging but I’m on instagram now. Anyway glad to see you are still blogging and hope you are doing well! Tammy

    1. Hi Tammy! Nice to hear from you. Sadly I'm not on Instagram so I can't pay you a return visit. All is well here at Chez Magpie although my creative focus has changed in favour of doing landscapes.

  13. I was wondering if you were going to add some silver to that lightning - looks wonderful! The 5-a-day plan sounds good. We just got rid of a ton of books and magazines and there's still a lot left. Can't bring myself to get rid of it all - though I don't know why we ever bought any of those so-called "coffee-table" books. They never sat on the coffee table.

    1. Books used to be my achille's heel but I've put myself on a strict 'diet' and haven't bought any for quite awhile. We still have a ton residing under the bed waiting to be read and of course manage to go the library at least twice a week.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
