The best of plans sometimes don't come to pass and such was the case for our Christmas plan. #1 son (the chef) finally managed to finangle Christmas day off, something he hasn't been able to do for at least ten years, and we had planned to travel about an hour and a half north to spend time with them. Unfortunately Mother Nature had another idea so it was decided that we would hold our celebration at a later date. We did, however, have a fun video chat with #2 son and his family and were able to watch our grandies opening their presents. Our gift from them was a beautiful charcuterie board and it's now enjoying a place hanging on our living room wall....
- Seeing THESE will brighten your day I'm sure (be sure to scroll down!) - THIS is a pretty lap quilt pattern that could be embiggened if you wanted a larger size.
- If you're like me and have odd balls of sock yarn lying about, perhaps some of the ideas found HERE might be just the thing OR maybe THIS might be a great use for some of them!
- If you're looking to create a cheese board for your New Year's Eve celebration, perhaps one of the ideas HERE might be helpful.
Today's quote..."If only our eyes saw souls instead of bodies, how different our ideals of beauty would be"
So sorry your plans didn't work out this year!! Mother Nature can sometimes be such a drag!!
ReplyDeleteI love that scarf pattern--I have lots of sock yarns so this will be really useful for me...thank you for the nice gift;)))
hugs, Julierose
Christmas plans are just that - plans. Not always able to be executed but that's okay.
DeleteGlad you liked the pattern!
great links as always. We have had to postpone Christmas until December 31st, in our case it's covid in the family........
ReplyDeleteMy goodness - you're the third one of my readers that's gotten covid over Christmas! Take care of you!!
DeleteYes, celebrate another time! I know that scenario. That's a beautiful artwork from your son.
ReplyDeleteChristmas celebrations can be whenever we can manage them.
DeleteAnd yes, I'm in love with the art from our son! He does beautiful woodwork and we were pretty happy to be gifted with some.
Sending holiday hugs! Your family celebration will be filled with joy and love no matter when it takes place!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanne! And you're so right - we'll just be happy to get together and share a meal whenever it does happen.
DeleteHappy Holidays to you and your family :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary Ann - and the same to you and yours!
DeleteCreativity runs in your family - that board looks stunning! I'm glad you were able to watch - even remotely - the grandkids open their presents. I'm going to have a brief visit with my Occasional Helper and family at their home on Thursday, and although I'm looking forward to seeing everyone open their (belated) presents I'm bringing, there is also a level of covid-related trepidation, if I'm honest.
ReplyDeleteYes, it seems creativity does run in the family.
DeleteI know exactly how you feel with trepidation over being with people - much as we wanted to see our family, I felt the same way.
How disappointing not to be able to spend Christmas with your son and his family especially as he was able to get Christmas Day off. But as you say you can make more plans to visit when Mother Nature is more agreeable. Goodness, you have been dumped by snow, haven't you? It looks positively deathly freezing there and in some parts of the States. Lovely charcuterie board. The perfect gift for you and your resident chef.
ReplyDeleteYes, Mother Nature trumps plans, that's for sure! Areas are still digging out from the massive dump of snow.
DeleteThat charcuterie board is beautiful as a decoration and I'm sure it will be useful during your celebrations. Sorry your plans had to change. We had something similar last year. Thank goodness for video chatting.
ReplyDeleteYes, video chatting is a wonderful thing. It was such fun to watch our grandies opening their gifts.
DeleteSo sorry that the weather interferred with your plans and hope you enjoy your later celebrations instead. What a beautiful gift your second son sent you! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteYes, we feel blessed to own a piece of his art!
DeleteLiving in Canada means we should expect pretty much anything when it comes to winter weather.
Sherry of createology: That is a spectacular Charcuterie Board. It looks quite fabulous hanging on the wall. Very nice quote. 2022 is soon ending and I wish for you and Jack complete health and happiness. XO
ReplyDeleteWe'll likely never use it as a charcuterie board, because we think it's a piece of art.
ReplyDeleteHealth and happiness is wished for you too Sherry!
I would never use that board. It's art and is in just the right place!
ReplyDeleteExactly! We couldn't bring ourselves to use it and appreciate it far more hanging on the wall where we can see it every day. I think our son knew that's what we'd do with it!
DeleteSorry your plans had to change, darn weather all over the place!
ReplyDeleteHe did a beautiful job and I'm not sure I'd want to use it either.
Plans change a lot when you live where there's snow. Turns out #1 son tested positive for covid the day after Christmas so obviously somebody was looking out for us!
DeleteAnd no, the board won't be used other than to be admired.
Before you explained what was in the picture, I thought I was looking at an animal climbing the wall. It looked frightening. lol Now that I know what I'm looking at, it's beautiful! That is a really awesome charcuterie board. Or a gorgeous unique piece of art (I just read that you can't bring yourself to use it for appetizers). I feel slightly disappointed as I wanted to see the spread one could put on that, but I can't say as I blame you. What a wonderful gift.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry if I scared you...lol! We're not 'charcuterie' people but certainly do appreciate the board for a piece of art.
