Another addition to THAT box

All of our grandies are getting sweaters, hats and mittens this year and this is the final sweater/hat/mitten combo that I've completed (still have two hats and two pairs of mittens to create)...

Patterns were three different ones adjusted to suit myself and the yarn is unknown from my stash.

I'm somewhat basking in a glow of self righteousness at the moment after I spent an hour or so culling my collection of needlework books that I never look at.  23 books are being delivered to the local library for their Friends book sales.  Am I going to wish I'd kept some of them, perhaps, but please let me feel virtuous for a little while.

- Some of you might find THIS intriguing enough to want to give it a try.

- You can read a little bit about THIS artist and then go and explore her galleries of very impressive creations.

- Although you have to sign up to receive their newsletters in order to get THIS great pattern for lovely warm fleece mittens, you can always unsubscribe afterwards.

- I rather wish I possessed the skills (and the patience!) to make THESE.

Today's quote..."You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands.  For instance, if they're placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset"

    1. I doubt that they'll be heirlooms but at least she'll be warm for a little big (til she grows out of them!).
The advent socks are definitely incredible but there's no way in the world I would ever attempt to knit them. Can you imagine all the ends you'd have to work in?

    1. The Christmas box has morphed into two (or maybe more!).
As for sorting through the books...I know I haven't opened any of the ones I'm donating for at least three years so there's no point in having them taking up space. I've kept my favourites along with a few that I MIGHT want, but I suspect the 'mights' just might get donated before long too.

    1. It's such a joy to work with 'girlie' colours after having so many boys in the family.

    1. She'll look adorable in it I think - as long as she doesn't grow out of it before she gets it!

  6. A few years ago, I sorted through my cross stitch books and only kept a few, I did the same with my knitting magazines. I feel so much lighter... I do miss them once in a while, but not enough to want them all back.

Wow love the set you did a marvelous job.

    God bless.

    1. I got rid of all my magazines a couple of years ago and haven't missed them at all. Took me longer to part with books though, but it's a relief that they're gone (or will be, with my next trip to the library).

    1. Normally I'm pretty much done by now because I generally start the end of January. This year I fell down on the job for some reason and got a late start.

  8. I love that little sweater set - and am impressed with the number you are making for Christmas this year :)
As for the those incredibly detailed socks...I can see where they'd be fun to knit and admire, but I'd want to keep them perfect and never wear them! The first hole in the heel would strike terror into my knitter's heart, as my darning skills are sadly poor.

    1. Sock darning? What's that?? I flatly refuse to darn socks. Fortunately Resident Chef counts that among his many talents and he doesn't mind darning. Me...I'd a whole lot rather simply knit a new pair!
As for the number of sweaters - four grandies, what can I say?

  9. What a darling little sweater set! I really need to dig in and cull out some of my books, but I am not so brave as you!

    1. Hopefully the sweater will look good on our wee little one.
As for the book situation - I have reached the realization (and believe me it's been a hard fought battle!) that I don't need half of the crafting supplies I have. After spending the past three years in a brave attempt to downsize my stash(es) and not seeing any appreciable space saving happening, I know I have to get heartless and ruthless and tackle some of the hard things. Releasing the books to someone else IS freeing, albeit somewhat frightening at the same time.

Sherry of createology: Congratulations on sharing your trove of knitting books with others. This little sweater set is adorable and will be worn a lot by your Little. Love the weavings by Lucille. Funny quote. November Blessings Dear.

    1. There was actually only one knitting book in the pile - all the rest were embroidery and crazy quilting ones.
Currently 14C here but they're saying the temps are set to plummet so I guess normal November weather is about to descend upon us. It sure was good while it lasted!
