A hissing good time?

The final fabric shipment arrived in the mail so now I can finish working on the advent calendars...

The white piece is another tone-on-tone that doesn't really show up in the photo.

And I have two finishes to show you today....firstly, the rose-themed birthday card...

Secondly, I finished knitting a snake.  Yet another thing destined for the Christmas box.  This guy measures about 60" long and made an admirable dent in my stash.  Pattern is the 'Striped Snake' by Sarah Ann Thompson and can be found HERE.

Today's quote is from William Barclay..."There are two great days in a person's life - the day we are born and the day we discover why"

  1. The snake can be a toy or a draft stopper at the door. Or both. Clever.

    1. Draft stopper - hadn't thought that far! Good idea. I think a little 4 year old will get a kick out of it....at least I hope so.

    1. Thanks Vicki - I hope my friend likes it. As for the 'other thing' I just hope our grandson isn't creeped out too!

  6. You'll be happy to have the green fabric arrive. Truly, your Rose card is the loveliest I have ever seen and will be greatly admired and loved. Love the snake -if it seems scary to your GS it could be a friendly Earthworm instead. :-)

    1. Yes, the green fabric arrived at a good time and I'm putting it to good use already. I'm glad you like the rose card - I think my friend will like it too. Our son thinks the snake will be just find for our grandson, so it's all good (altho' I do like the earthworm idea).

  7. The birthday card is amazing! Just beautiful. I imagine that will sit out where your friend can look at it and enjoy it for a long time. And that snake is pretty cool. I enjoyed looking at all the ways people found to pose it at the link you provided. I'm, curious... did you knit that whole long thing with double-pointed needles, or are you a magic loop gal?

    1. I hope my friend will like the card and have room for it in her space. The snake IS fun (or at least I thought so!) with lots of play value. I used double points because I haven't a clue how to do magic loop. I don't have a problem with DPN's so I stick to them for this sort of thing.

  10. Nice card. I was gifted a similar stitched birthday card a few years ago. The snake - not a favorite. In fact, I can't stand those creatures as they creep me out.

    1. Glad you liked the card, but sorry you were creeped by the snake. This one IS rather cuddly though so hopefully it's not too scary.
