Ditto - and pretty thing

I could show you an instant repeat of what I showed you last time (the Christmas tree) because I've created another one....just like the other one....only with the fabrics in different spots.  So....instead....how about this?.....

This poor plant has been through a lot and at one point was threatening to depart for the Great Plant Graveyard but as you can see it has bounced back and is looking great.  The plant in the foreground is a cherry tomato that Resident Chef grew from seeds he brought home from our visit out west a couple of years ago.  You can *just* see our car in the parking lot (on the right).  Good thing I took a photo when I did because shortly afterwards a vicious storm came through and the poor thing looks a little bedraggled right now.

And, before I leave for today, here are our #2 and #3 grandsons, drawn by our artist Daughter-In-Love...

Today's quote..."Life is ironic.  It takes depression to know happiness.  It takes stress to understand calm.  It takes absence to value presence"

  1. We didn't come out too bad from the storm. It always seems to separate at the lake and we miss a lot of 'guff'! Those sketches are just the sweetest things...what a treasure.

    1. Yes we were lucky for sure...some folks in Barrie, not so much. Very glad the storm spared our family. As for the sketches - yes, they are adorable, but then too, so are my grandkids!

  2. Yes to the scrap cat doll! Makes me smile as well. The pattern looks so easy! Pretty plant, I think my mother called one like it a lipstick plant.
    Beautiful drawings. She is talented.

    1. Yes, our daughter-in-love is a very talented artist. As for the plant - it was marketed as being a fuchsia. My mom had a houseplant she called a lipstick plant too but it didn't look the same as this one.

  3. I think it is called a trumpeter fuchsia - aren't fuchsias just lovely plants - a colourful addition to any situation.
There is a lot of skill being able to portray people and for them to be recognised too. Well done to your daughter-in-law.

    1. Trumpeter fuchsia sounds like a good name for it so I expect that's what it is....thank you. It's certainly outdoing itself with flowers. Our daughter-in-love is a graphic artist but rarely gets time to just sit and play with her art.

    1. Well, dancing isn't my forte, but I did do my best! And yes, our daughter-in-love is a wonderful artist, for sure.

  5. BTW, one Christmas i bought my grandson a billfold and put"Business Cards" I made him to hand out. By 4th grade he had started a "yard sale" business. LOL, his Mother had to hang on to stuff, because he thought if he never saw them use it he could sell it.

  8. Your Grands in the frames are so cute and excellently drawn by your Daughter-in-Love. I am having terrible luck with plants here in the desert. Indoors and outdoors. I shall stick to watercoloring plants on paper.

    1. Our daughter-in-love is an excellent artist - she's a graphic designer by trade but doesn't get much time to create for herself. As for plants - sometimes I think artificial is the way to go, but then I remember they don't help clean the air so I keep buying them and killing them.

    1. That plant is certainly outdoing itself with blooms after it had a very poor start in life. Storm didn't do much here but there was a tornado about 10 miles from here.

    1. Yes, our daughter-in-love is extremely talented when it comes to art. Of course she has really cute subject matter to work from too (not that I'm biased in the least!).
