First of all, I finished stitching the bee-themed project and am calling it a finish despite the fact that the search is now on for an appropriate frame for it. Finished at about 5x7"
Then I turned my attention to the fact that our friend is having a birthday soon so I thought I'd make her a card featuring her favourite flower. I'll add some lace to tart it up a little more.

The mailman brought a little augmentation for my stash as you can see (but it's not the shipment I need to finish the advents)....
Today's quote is from Nathaniel Hawthorne..."Methinks it is a token of healthy and gentle characteristics, when women of high thoughts and accomplishments love to sew; especially as they are never more at home with their own hearts than while so occupied"
I'll definitely accept the compliment about women who sew?
ReplyDeleteI think it's a compliment to us too.
DeleteThose dragons and the unicorn are too cute. I've book marked them for future consideration :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked them! I love the wee dragon of course, but there might just be a need for a unicorn or two at some point.
DeleteThat's a sweet finish. And that rose is nice, too! You must have done that one while I wasn't looking. You are fast! I hope you're having a good birthday week, Mary Anne! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Becki - I rather like the bee project too. As for the rose, it didn't take long because it's only small. Thank you for the b'day wishes.
DeleteI see the little bee has helped you to be busy. It looks wonderful. Can't wait to see the finished card. And thanks for the giggle with that video.
ReplyDeleteThe bee project was great fun and so I thought I'd do some more and did the rose too. Glad you enjoyed the video!
DeleteFlora is cute. The photo is sort of abstract as it took eye sorting to see the actual figures.
ReplyDeleteEye sorting - I like that term!
DeleteA lucky person is getting a beautiful rose. Not sure what the Chef is making?
ReplyDeleteKombucha - is a drink made from tea which is supposed to be very good for you. Don't know about the health benefits but it tastes good!
DeleteLove your little cross stitch project Mary Anne and I am sure you'll find the right frame to finish it off! Just finished laughing hysterically at that first video!! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the video! I have until Christmas to find just the right frame so there's no rush.
DeleteThe bee cross stitch is so cute! Your friends will love it.
ReplyDeleteI hope they'll like it. I know they're quite interested in the bees they have on their property - they don't take care of them but just provide the space for them.
DeleteThat card is so pretty - I do love pretty embroidery designs on equally pretty white cloth. Summer is such a nice time for this kind of stitching - it's easy to pick up and put down without having to think hard about where you left off!
ReplyDeleteI agree - cross stitching small projects is perfect for summertime weather. Much nicer than sitting under a heavy crocheted afghan which I'm also doing.
DeleteOoh, I love your Bee finish, so very sweet! Your card is looking good.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried kombucha yet, but how awesome that your husband is making it.
I missed your birthday! What date? Happy Late birthday wishes.
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy - you didn't miss much! Resident Chef's is on the 21st and mine the 22nd so we can get all the celebrating (such as it is!) all over with at once.
