Update

A wee update on the previous rant about Canada Post - the parcel arrived late on Monday, remarkably unscathed despite all the adventures it had.  Phew!  I plan to become best buds with UPS from now on - Canada Post has burned their bridges!

It's been a busy couple of days so there has been absolutely nada done on anything creative so I don't have any photos to share.

Here's a little smile for your day..."Not to brag, but I just went into another room and actually remembered why I went in there.  It was the bathroom, but still....."

  1. I'm very glad it arrived. Was a bit anxious in case it vanished. In the US our postal service has contracts now with UPS, where deliveries are done by UPS right to the local po, which does the last bit. It's working much better than the postal service doing the whole thing. Faster, packages don't arrive crushed and torn. I think they used to drive trucks over them at the po!

    1. Yes, I was a tad worried too. Didn't relish having to re-make all those baby gifts! I won't be sending anything else that's valuable through them, that's for sure. #2 son said the package was in good shape when it finally did arrive - they couldn't very well drive a truck over it because it was a big big.

    1. By all reports they were happy with the goodies. Of course the baby is too little to appreciate anything, but at least they'll help keep him warm.

  7. So glad it arrived intact! Whew!
I've come to the conclusion that any delivery service is only as good as the delivery person. For a while I was really angry with Fedex ("I was TOO home!" I shouted, waving my cane) but then I started getting UPS deliveries from a very lazy and careless driver. Then a Fedex driver - maybe a new one? I certainly never requested this - started carrying every one of my packages all the way up my long driveway and putting them in a place where I can pick them up easily - so helpful! I later discovered it wasn't Fedex that caused my original bad experience - it was Fedex EXPRESS. And frankly, that driver is STILL a jerk. But the regular Fedex driver is so good that I made a point of contacting the company and trying to get him a raise because a customer really appreciates a pleasant attitude.
When I'm sending things, though, I generally use our US Postal Service because it is so much better than the postal service in some places I've lived, and needs support to stay alive. And I'm lucky that the PO in my little town - and my Rural Route carrier - are really interested in doing a good job.
Now that I've said all that, I suppose I can soon expect a lost postal shipment and a Fedex delivery of broken items LOL

    1. It's so true that it's the people that make any company or organization work. Our previous mail carrier who delivered to our building was a complete and total snark. I went out of my way to say a pleasant few words to him but all I ever got was a snarl or he would completely ignore me. Now we have a wonderful young man who is smiling all the time - what a change! I've made up my mind that when someone gives really good service I will ensure that I give them credit. However, on the other hand, if the service isn't good I have started speaking up. The other day I wrote an email to a major company because I had noticed they had decreased their packaging and I wanted to commend them for doing so. I got the nicest response which almost sounded amazed that someone would actually take the time to tell them something good. Perhaps we all should do more of that.

    1. There was a bit of angst over it, but at least it arrived in one piece.
