Slow and steady

The progress has been slow on the latest scissor pouch and all I have to show you today is the incomplete 'innards' for the blue one.  At least one thing, it's using up some of my hankie stash!

Today's quote comes from Mary A. Radmacher...Courage doesn't always roar.  Sometimes courage is that quiet voice at the end of the day saying "I will try again tomorrow"

  1. Resin is appealing, especially the examples you show. However, it's very important to know that it is highly toxic. It needs full respirator protection as well as mask, apron and goggles. Some of the curing agents are carcinogens.

Although the people in the links do mention precautions, I think they need to be emphasized. And all this goes double for pregnant woman.

Not wanting to spoil the fun, but please if you use resin, proceed with caution.

Now back to your scheduled program, after the speech from a longtime art workshop teacher.

    1. Good points Liz - thank you. I know I won't be making any of these things but they sure are beautiful! I remember putzing about with resin when I was in my teens - back in the day when making paperweights was all the rage. It was a paltry effort at best and the results weren't very satisfactory. I think the process is much improved now, if these beautiful tables are any indication. Sure would like to win the lottery so I could own one!

  2. Oooh... pretty white, embroidered hankies are going to be beautiful inside your blue pouch, Mary Anne.

    1. I was happy to use up the last teeny bit of the one hankie by putting it on the cover of the needlebook. No waste with that one!

  3. I think this new scissor case is going to look fabulous! Can't wait to see it all complete! Your links about resin art made me smile.... the comment that it may need some new supplies.... I couldn't help thinking about all the decluttering only to think about taking up a new hobby and re-cluttering with new supplies!! Christine xx

    1. Oh no - not going to so much as contemplate any new hobbies with the resulting influx of supplies!! I plan to stick with what I'm doing at least until I get my stash sufficiently downsized to have space for anything else.

  4. Lovely stitching. I used to work with resin years ago when Terry did wood working. We made things for every one in the family and sold items at local fairs. Gosh those were fun days that I am glad I no longer want to so ANY MORE! lol.

    1. I toyed with some small resin projects way back but the results were never very good so it was a process I gave up on. The new reincarnation of it is pretty stunning though!
