Yes, it's getting closer to the reveal of what this particular crazy quilted 'thing' might be turned into....
Now the big question is....will it turn into what I envision....or not?
An interesting quote I found (courtesy of a book called "How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind' by Dana K White)....regarding decluttering...."Do the trash first" (in other words - just get rid of the trash first and the rest will follow and be much easier).
Your stitching always amazes me. Looking at the tractor closer, do you embroider the plants into the quilt or embroider them first?
ReplyDeleteI add the embroidery as pretty much the last step with the quilt batting in place. The last step is to put the backing on (to cover up my messy stitching on the back...hee hee).
DeleteAfter a few days of all out effort, everything starts to look like trash! That's when you know you need a break.
ReplyDeleteIf everything starts to look like trash I guess it's a good way to get rid of more (but might defeat the purpose and lead to having to buy replacements!)
DeleteIt is always a delightful day when one sees your pretty crazy quilting. Love the colours of those fabrics; the little floral is a lovely touch.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim - I like returning to crazy quilting once in awhile jut to remind myself of how much I enjoy it.
DeleteWould your beautiful CQ piece be the beginning of a hussif? Love your embroidery.
ReplyDeleteIt's the beginning of something which at the moment is giving me grief with the putting together. Obviously thinking three steps ahead of myself isn't my strong suite!
DeleteAt first, almost nothing is trash. That's a hurdle for me!
ReplyDeleteI find making instant decisions works best for me. I don't allow myself time to think because once I do, that's where the wanting to keep everything starts.
DeleteIn the book I was recently re-listening to (Decluttering at the Speed of Life) Dana White talks about this, too. This was a step I completely overlooked in the past when decluttering. She said to look at a cluttered space - table top, area of the floor, whatever... and notice what can just be thrown away. And throw it away! It's amazing how doing that little step before tackling what needs to be put in order (or put away) makes the space much more manageable. It's really so simple and now obvious to me. I don't know why it wasn't obvious before. Looking forward to seeing what your crazy quilting project is going to be!
ReplyDeleteSame author - different books. The one I referred to is her previous book and I found it at the local library. I've read both actually. I think she also said that obvious trash doesn't tend to be so obvious because it blends into everything else after awhile.
DeleteOh, some suspense here, I'm being patient!
ReplyDelete'Get rid of the trash first' now that is brilliant and brave. Sometimes the obvious gets overlooked doesn't it?
Might have to be patient awhile longer if I don't figure out how to put it together!
DeleteI'm wondering if the crazy quilting is going to be something that hangs, as a holder of some sort. Where you have to plan folds and pockets. That's my guess.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm.....maybe......
DeleteDepending on the size of your piece, it could be a needle case, a panel for a bag . . .
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing.
Hmmmm.....maybe.....close!
DeleteI love your Royal Purple CQ piece and it will be fun to watch it take shape as a finished piece. Love the idea of throwing away trash first. Less to deal with and less overwhelming. Cold and Cloudy here today but NO rain as predicted. Now it will be windy for several days.
ReplyDeleteI agree - getting rid of trash first is an excellent idea (and probably helps create momentum too!).
