Happy Canada Day to my Canadian friends
and Happy Independence Day to my friends in the US
I'm part way finished with the embroidery on the landscape. I'm still building on what's there now but you can see it starting to take shape.
- THIS looks like it would be great fun to try.
- The same blogger has THIS tutorial that looks like it would make great gifts (not that I think about THAT day in December all year round!)
- There's some ideas HERE for recycling denim.
- Have a peek through the art by THIS amazing creator.
Today's quote is from Thomas Sowell..."It is usually futile to try to talk facts to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance"
Progress looking good
ReplyDeleteLink, love the denim upholstery and braided denim jewelry.
I would love a chair covered in denim especially if it had a scene on the back...so cool!
DeleteI just love your little embroidered garden area--do you mark the fabric or just free-sew it as you go? Wonderful work on this..
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th and/or Canada Day {I don't know where you reside, but good wishes at any rate:))) } hugs Julierose
I'm in Canada - so it's Canada Day for us. As for marking the fabric, the answer is yes and no (fence sitting is my specialty!). I mark out the main areas and then add more freehand later on.
DeleteHappy Canada Day! Enjoy your holiday.
ReplyDeleteThank you - and you enjoy your weekend too!
DeleteHappy Canada Day! Love the embroidered details. Have a great weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHappy Canada Day!!! That fusible webbing idea looks very cool.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the fusible webbing - going to have to give that one a try.
DeleteenJOYed looking through your first featured blogger's blog. Happy Canada Day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Joy! It was a pretty calm day for us. Glad you enjoyed the peek into that blog!
DeleteI love it when you start adding embroidered flowers, Mary Anne. These are made with ribbons! Do you usually embroider flowers with ribbons and I just now noticed? So pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt depends on how the spirit moves me as to whether I use ribbon or regular embroidery. I've been guilty of hoarding my silk ribbon simply because it's so hard to get here but I've finally decided that it's not doing me any good in the drawer.
DeleteA belated Happy Canada Day. Loving to see the flowers come to life. I've bookmarked those projects. I'm especially interested in the painted interfacing, I think I have some of that lying around.
ReplyDeleteI'm wanting to try the painted interfacing too because I'm wondering if it would be a good background for embroidery on a landscape.
DeleteA very belated Happy Canada Day Mary Anne. You have created some really well stitched, beautiful flowers. Can hardly wait to see the finished landscape.
ReplyDeleteThank you - Canada Day was pretty quiet for us and even the fireworks that normally get set off practically right beside us (not sanctioned by the town, I might add) were remarkably quiet.
