Progress (of the landscape kind) and possibilities

First of all, a shipment of yarn arrived and just look at the possibilities to be found therein!....

I have plans, serious plans, that involve a certain Christmas box that needs filling.

The landscape is continuing on and I'm embarking on machine stitching all the grass.  That takes at least a couple of days to complete.

- Those of you who enjoy hand stitching might find THIS project to be a fun one to try.

- Or maybe THIS one?

- THIS is one of those things that have the wow factor (at least I think so!).  While you're there have a look through THESE!!!!

- I thought THIS was an interesting concept and would be fun to attempt on your own (scroll down for the hexxie version which is the one I'm referring to)

- Some of you might like THIS project.

Today, instead of a quote.....

  1. Tell us more about the yarn.what is it where do you like to order, all that. I rarely buy yarn because people are always giving it so I'm not very knowledgeable.

    1. The yarn you see on the left in the photo is Bernat Blanket Brights (super bulky #6) and the black and multi coloured is Patons Canadiana (a #4 weight). My place of choice to order yarn is in BC - Yarn Canada. There are numerous other places but they are fast to ship and I usually manage to order enough to qualify for free shipping. I haven't been in a bricks and mortar yarn shop for several years because Yarn Canada has a very large selection to choose from. The only drawback is not being able to fondle the yarn or to see actual colours prior to purchasing.

Sherry of createology: Your landscape is looking excellent. Yarn delights for your creative knitting needles and crochet hooks. I really love the Tree of Wisdom. The colors are lovely and her work is stunning. Happy days dear.

    1. The landscape is at that point where I always question the wisdom of going forward. And yes, there's lots of fodder for happy hours creating in that box of yarn.

Looking forward to seeing your machine work. Our humidity is getting to what I call Houston Texas level which means the thermometer says 88 but our skin and lungs feel more like 100. You can scoop the air up with a spoon. So my AC doesn't cool out upstairs which calls for handstitching on the couch downstairs under the ceiling fan. I enjoyed all your hexie links. Oddly I found Olta Quilts on You Tube yesterday which were a lot like your hexie quilt links today. I was intrigued by her memory quilt. Her Summer Quilt video made it look so easy. She didn't seem to worry so much about matching exact points like some do.

    1. Humidity here isn't too high - yet! We haven't had to turn the a/c unit on - yet! I will have to check Olta Quilts - thank you.

    1. The trouble with photos is that the stitching doesn't really show all that well. Trust me, there's a lot of hours already!

    1. I'm looking forward to seeing what I make too! I have plans, but will have to see what transpires. Sometimes I've been known to change my mind.

  8. I come in to see your progress and I end up down several different rabbit holes of others' creative goodness. You landscape is looking good, Mary Anne. So much detail already. I just read above that you haven't had to turn on the A/C yet. I'm amazed - of course I don't know just how far north you are into Canada. We've had so many 90+ degree days, for weeks on end... We've been in the "dog days of summer" since the second week in June and our A/C has run almost constantly.

    1. Hmmm - perhaps my blog should come with a warning label? That rabbit holes (and squirrel moments) are apt to happen?
We're in southern-ish Ontario, just so you can have some context.
