Phew!

I thought I'd never get done with stitching the brown part of this ornament!  Now I can start adding the fun details which certainly hold my interest far longer than that awful brown.

Sorry about the horrible picture - it's dull here this morning, plus the computer won't let me crop the photo.

- If you don't smile (or even LOL) over THESE, I don't know what else I can show you.  I would frame them!

- Have a peek through the galleries of THIS amazing artist!

- There's a great tutorial HERE for making thread bowls.

- She also has a tutorial for making some interesting buttons HERE.

Today's quote....

  2. Whew, that is a lot of brown. But it's going to be wonderful when done. Thanks for the links. I've been pinning a lot of dorset buttons lately and even sent away for a kit, but I'm definitely going to try the Yorkshire ones too. I like the earrings they made and the other projects. Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. I don't care if I don't stitch with brown for awhile I must admit. I know I won't be repeating this particular ornament.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the buttons.

  3. Adorable characters, they are some of the best cheery creatures I've seen. They exude happiness.

    1. They do exude happiness and heaven knows we need more of that these days.

  4. That is a great deal of brown, but it is done now and you can move on to the fun details.

    God bless.

  5. Just caught up on your posts! Great reading and links...thanks so much. Meanwhile, full coverage cross stitch is a real skill. Your Toy SHop ornament is so beautiful. And I too find some aspects of a design a bit tedious to stitch...the Hawk Run Hollow house comes to my mind. I also agree, older and now I guess vintage patterns are a real gold mine. Thanks again for those links.

  7. Brown would seem a bit boring. Embellishing will be the best part. I am intrigued with the thread fiber vessels and bowls. And I have wanted to make Dorset buttons for a long time. These buttons look great. I am not a quitter but sometimes wish I were. Happy first day of Spring. Cloudy and cool here.

    1. I would love to see those fiber vessels in person. Someday (!) I'm going to try making dorset buttons too.
