Photo used with the kind permission of Glen Bowe
Of course I manage to take some liberties with the original and have to say that hard as I try I can't seem to stick to following the photo inspiration exactly. Artistic license?
- Have a look at the gallery of THIS talented artist!
- THIS is a really cute project for Easter.
- HERE is a tutorial for making a fun bag that would serve lots of uses.
- If you have a dog (or know someone who does) THIS looks like a great idea.
Today's quote is from Mahatma Gandhi..."When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it - always"
Since a photo is only a suggestion, of course you depart from it and make it more interesting. It wouldn't be art if you just copied. It will be interesting, too, to see how this one goes.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I seem to manage to go my own way and I wonder sometimes if the project doesn't speak to me, somewhat like I've always maintained that dolls do.
DeleteThe change from photo, the parts lean on opposite directions so far. It looks good to me.
ReplyDeleteThe photo is a prairie scene without much in the way of additional interest so I decided that I'd carry on the fall theme of the original and add in the colorful trees. Not something you would see in the prairies I suppose. Artistic license!!
DeleteThanks for that much needed quote. And I love that you chose that photo as your inspiration. Of course, as an artist you will interpret, not copy it.
ReplyDeleteArtist interpretation - or marching to my own drummer!
DeleteYour "take" on the photo looks super to me--I am always so amazed at how you interpret these various photos and embellish them so beautifully...Coming along great;))) hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThere's a long way to go yet before this one is going to look like much. It's at the 'REALLY? I think I can do this????!!!" stage now.

ReplyDeleteThe new project looks great and We all know you will bring your magic to the finished Landscape. I'm looking forward to each addition. I'd like to see Ghandi's quote go viral around the world- to read and believe.
I'd like to see that quote go viral too. As for the landscape, I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of it too. I'm always worried that the photographer will think I'm taking too many liberties with his work.
DeleteYou're using the inspiration to make it yours. I love seeing your spin on it. You have a wonderful way to transform that fabric and those threads into a unique piece of art.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorraine - kind words indeed!
DeleteYour use of artistic license is wonderful. A picture is only a suggestion.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
For some reason my eyes seem to think that there needs to be some sort of background going on, despite having obvious evidence to the contrary in the photo.
DeleteYour landscape is already looking great Mary Anne! What an inspirational quote.... we all need to remember that at the moment!! Christine xx
ReplyDeleteI must admit the landscape is at the stage where I wonder why I'm even trying to do this. I know it gets better if I carry on though.
DeleteYes! Call it artistic license. That's what makes it yours. The picture is just your inspiration. I'm amazed with the rusty roof.
ReplyDeleteThe rusty roof needs some work yet but I'm happy with that fabric. I originally got it for use as fall foliage but realized that it makes good rusty roof fodder too.
DeleteI'm honoured that you have used my photograph to inspire you to create your own art Mary Anne. I also enjoyed reading the quote that is as applicable today as it was when it was first spoken. Keep up the blogging.
ReplyDeleteGlen
Thanks Glen - I appreciate you giving permission for me to monkey about with your photo and just hope you'll end up liking what I come up with.
DeleteOh how I love an old barn. You should definitely take artistic license as it makes the finished project even more yours! Really cute Peeps Mug Rug. Excellent quote…”Always”…we must remember.
ReplyDeleteI guess it could be said that all of my landscapes are filled with 'artistic license' from start to finish!
