The best of plans....

Yes, the best of plans are bound to run aground more often than I'd care to admit.  I had great plans on Saturday to lay out all those hexies I made awhile ago (remember those?) onto the king-sized bed sheet I planned to use for the background.  The sheet, alas, was wrinkled - badly.  OK - I have an iron and an itty-bitty teeny-tiny wee small (well you get the idea!) ironing board.  Despite my noble plan to wrestle those wrinkles into submission the minute I moved the sheet to iron the next section it promptly wrinkled some more.  Argh.  So.... after some ponderment I hit upon the plan to hang said sheet over the dual rods in our bathroom, spritz it with water, and then turn the shower on with the door closed to build up steam.  Nobody could have been more surprised than me when it actually worked!  However, it took most of the day to dry so the 'Grande Plan' came to no fruition.

So...on to Grande Plan # 2 - designing the next landscape.  Of course the first attempt didn't work and I changed my mind in mid-go anyway.  So a re-design happened.  By this time the day was gone.

Today's quote.."If you don't do wild things while you're young, you'll have nothing to smile about when you're old"

  1. Who needs an iron anyway. It seems your solution worked better. You will get inspired with those landscapes of yours and begin to play and all of a sudden you will be on your magical way.

    1. Needs must sometimes! Wasn't a perfect solution but it worked well enough.

  2. So sorry your day didn't go as planned, but thanks for another line-up of great links. Those crocheted gingerbread men are adorable! And thanks for the link to the free downloadable cross stitch magazine. I needed some more patterns. Not. But that didn't stop me from downloading it. :)

    1. I hate to say just how often my days don't go as planned! I haven't downloaded that magazine - yet. No doubt I will, even though I don't need it.

  3. A plethora of fun and fabulous items today. Love the lot. Skeeter's my favourite and I saved the Xstitch book.

    1. Nope, it's not - provided the body stands up to the abuse!

    1. The latest sheet adventure doesn't have me smiling - or at least my knees certainly aren't! Spent the entire afternoon crawling around on the floor pinning hexies in place and now my body is reminding me that I'm old - too old for that!!!

  6. These days my clothes dryer and I have a secret agreement that my iron doesn't know about for getting rid of wrinkles....lol but I love your solution! (I'll keep it quiet from my iron, who believes it is only needed for quilt blocks). I loved the old pattern ideas although I must confess I started yawning before I got to the end of the instructions.....lol (short attention span)......but I might try it anyway.......and I, for one, love your mumblings.....

    1. Oh yes, my iron would tip over and die if it had to face clothing! I simply can't remember when the last time was that I ironed actual clothes.

    1. I'll get it done - eventually. The hexie quilt is just something I'm doing on a whim. I don't have a use for it but I wanted to play with hexies. Of course I had to decide that I should do it on a grand scale!

  8. That shower steam trick has saved many a trip outfit. Love the links dear. I am already missing what I should have done “wild” when I was younger!

    1. I don't do much traveling so never had the need for that particular application but it sure was nice to discover it works for large pieces of fabric too.
