Yes, more additions to the Christmas box (don't worry I'm close to the end!!)
Three book bags for three little grandsons.
Each feature a t-shirt front and the word
'Books' on the back.
No pattern to speak of, just went with the
available t-shirt front sizes.

Today's quote is from Norman Vincent Peale..."Optimism is a philosophy based on the belief that basically life is good, that in the long run, the good in life overbalances the evil"
Love the book bags, Mary Anne, just right for the little grandsons!
ReplyDeleteThe journal link has some beauty, doesn't it - my kinda thing. Makes me want to get into my craft room and make one, or more. :-)
Also love your socks from the previous link - I'm thinking of making some for myself, actually!
Thank you again, for the links, you're a star!
Val
Thanks Val - glad you found something of interest in the links. My Christmas creating, at least for now, is coming to an end for this year I think.
DeleteThe bags are adorable. I'm sure the grandsons will love them.
ReplyDeleteIt is time to get the holiday card decoratons and cards on the way.
Thank you for the reminder
Yes, if the post office is to be believed we need to get parcels in the mail way sooner than usual this year. After the debacle with what we sent to our kids ending up bouncing all around the country last year we're not planning to take any chances and hopefully it will be on the way tomorrow.
DeleteOh, I forgot about last year. It took almost a month for a package to arrive.
DeleteGreat bags Mary Anne! I’m sure your grandsons will love them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links, more for my list on Ravelry!
I’m hoping to cross stitch my Christmas cards this year but I might not be early enough!
Hugs,
Barbara xx
Don't know how much they're allowed to go to the library these days, but at least they'll have the bags for when they do.
DeleteThere's time to make the cards I think, but I'd pick a simple design that wasn't too involved.
Really nice book bags! Great way to use old T-shirts too.
ReplyDeleteI had some t-shirts set aside to make a t-shirt quilt for our grandson but I stole three out of those to make the bags. I'll replace them next time I get to a thrift store.
DeleteWhat cute book bags--they will love them...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI was just lucky to have ones in my 'collection' that was originally supposed to turn into a quilt. These had perfect themes for the grandsons ages.
DeleteGosh, a lot of optimism is required at the moment!! Cute book bags. Your grandsons are going to love them.
ReplyDeleteHow true (re the optimism needed right now). And the bags are rather cute if I do say so myself.
DeleteWell done with getting your Christmas gift box almost full! Those bags will be well loved and used I am sure! xx
ReplyDeleteOne more gift to finish for immediate family and then I might make a couple little things just for the fun of it.
DeleteThose bags are great. So glad you explained that the graphics are from T-shirts. I was wondering where you got that cool fabric. :) And I love the junk journal. They seem so impractical, but so interesting to look at.
ReplyDeleteWhen I used the t-shirts I just backed them with some iron-on- interfacing to make them not so stretchy and easier to work with. The size of the bags was pretty much decided by the size of the t-shirt graphics although I did add a strip of fabric around a couple of them to make them a bit larger.
DeleteAs for the journals - I'm with you in thinking they are somewhat impractical but gorgeous all the same.
Making great progress on your Christmas items. Also many thanks for that sock pattern...nothing cosier than knitted socks. Also thanks for the links. I’m eying that Threadbare Christmas Star pattern.
ReplyDeleteYes Christmas is in full swing here at Chez Magpie, but all that is about to come to an end because I'm just about done. Not sure what that's going to mean with my mood though because I'm so used to working on Christmas things practically right up to the last minute.
DeleteMA, you are ingenious when making gifts or projects. You manage to create items with anything between scrap pieces to bought items and end up with Winners every time. The T-shirt book bags are going to be loved and the socks look so easy and good I may have to make a pair for myself. I hope Santa has something special for you this year.
ReplyDeleteI don't think ingenious so much as my refusal to buy anything if I don't have to! As for Santa having anything for me this year, I think our gift is the car. Pretty big gift if you ask me!
DeleteWhat a fun gift! They look fun to make too! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteYes, they were a fun project and everything I needed came out of my stash so they were a win/win. Provided the boys like them, and I think they will.
DeleteSuch a great recycling idea that has a personal touch.
ReplyDeleteI'm all about recycling and re-purposing so this project suited me quite well!
DeleteThey are going to love these!
ReplyDeleteHope so! Now just have to hope that they get to go to the library so they can use them.
