Crazy quilting again

Over the past few days I've been working on a new crazy quilt project.  It's not ready to show just yet, but here's a couple of glimpses of what's been done so far...

This quote made me smile..."I'm a repurposing, upcycling, vintage adoring, antiquing, dumpster diving, garage sale-ing, thrift store hunting, junk sifting, yard-n-tag sale shopping, glue gunning, stencil & spray painting, do it myself-ing, look what I made kind of girl!"

  1. I just love those colors in your crazy quilt project. And I'm going to try that denim project if I can get myself going. Great quote!

    1. I'm not normally much of a fan of pink but it does go so well with black!

    1. It's hard to photograph I guess, but what you see as grey is actually black. Altho - it WOULD be nice in grey too, wouldn't it!

  3. It's been awhile since you have done any CQ on here. I'm looking forward to seeing what develops. Thank you for the link re the silk embroidery. I had seen that before but had forgot to book mark it.

I have a bottle of glycerine in the cupboard. No idea why? Now I know what I can do with it:)

    1. I've mostly been trying to use up pre-made CQ blocks lately and not been doing anything new. This project is one I've been asked to teach at our local quilt guild so I want/need to have a couple of samples made up for them to see beforehand. Like you I had seen the SRE before but had forgotten about it. Anxious to see if you do use the glycerine and try the paint idea.

    2. Found the bottle of glycerine finally. Apparently it belongs to my son who used it when he did food photography at Ryerson. He says I can have it so I might do a bit of experimenting :)

    3. Glad you found it - now I'll be interested to see the results of your experimenting!

  4. I've always been fascinated with crazy quilting and have done my share in the past. Nice work. Interesting links. Will probably follow the silk ribbon one. Thanks

    1. There are certainly worse things to be fascinated by than crazy quilting! Wish I could remember how many years it's been one of my passions.

  5. I love the colors in your crazy quilt. Reading comments above I'm not sure what I'm seeing, though. To me it looks like various shades of dark taupe-ish (a sort of dark brownish gray...) But is it really made of shades of black? Looking forward to seeing the larger blanket revealed. Will you share lots of pictures of detailed shots like the ones above?

    1. Taupe-ish gray? Interesting! It's black, truly it is. Unless I've suddenly lost all sense of colour! Oddly - it shows up as black on my screen. Yes, there will be more pictures, starting in a few minutes.

    1. Yep - too many things in that quote hit close to home! I haven't quite gotten to dumpster diving - but not ruling it out either.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
