Thrifting finds

We had to do a run to Costco yesterday and it so happens that we have to (note the HAVE TO part of the equation!!) drive right by a Value Village thrift store.  While we were there two things jumped off the shelves and landed in my cart....

Isn't he just the cutest teapot ever?  I have absolutely NO need for another teapot (technically this little fellow wouldn't work well as a real teapot anyway....his little hat comes off and it's nigh onto impossible to stuff a teabag into the tiny little hole, much less get it out again once it's wet and has expanded).   No matter, he makes me laugh every time I look at him, so he had to come home with us.

Some of you know I have an ongoing quest to find interesting books about embroidery for my collection and this little beauty jumped into my cart too.  It's a wonderful reference book and also has a number of patterns inside, one or two of which I already plan to utilize on my latest hussif.
Specs:  'The Cross Stitcher's Bible' by Jane Greenoff; published by David & Charles, c 2000,  ISBN  0-7153-0929-3

  1. Lucky finds there. One useful and one 'just because.'
You do know that Tuesdays is seniors day at VV and they consider seniors as 60+. No one asks for proof and I came home with just under $30.00 in fabric. Gotta keep sewing for those little people...

  3. Oh Mary Anne, I LOVE your tea pot. I like frogs too, and I know it's a bit Kitsch, but I have frogs in the garden(ceramic ones). I might make a post about my frogs too if you don't mind. The frogs come with a story from when I was tutoring!!

  5. I love frogs, so I think your teapot is adorable! I had to giggle at the previous comment about using a teabag, as my eldest son prefers loose leaf teas. Your book looks like a treasure!

I love teapots, but we have about 3 or 4 and I probably couldn't sneak another into the house without it being noticed! I love the frog, but teabags? You'd be forever rinsing loose leaf out. I would have wanted to buy the frog had I seen it too! Nice book. Barbara xx

  13. That frog tea pot is a hoot. I have a collection of teapots, but nothing quite a whacky as that. How about trying loose leaf tea in it? Would that work?

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
