The coins on the upper seam treatment are held down with beads that are quite reminiscent of jade. Below that is a narrow seam treatment done using my favourite waste canvas. To the right of the tree the seam was done with the aid of the wonderful stencils by SharonB.
Some of you will remember that a few weeks ago I was invited to judge a crazy quilt competition at one of the local quilt guilds. Last night I was presented with a lovely thank you gift which will enjoy pride of place in my sewing studio...
Thank you Chrissie!! |
Today's quote is from J.M. Barrie.... "Shall we make a new rule of life from tonight: always to try to be a little kinder than is necessary"
So sorry about the unwanted excitement. Yes, I can see staying safely put, and maybe doing a bit of stitching, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the gift. I bet you did a bangup job on the judging.
That's not the kind of excitement you want! Glad the superintendent is OK! Hope you get to go home soon.
ReplyDeleteOh My Dear...Prayers and Healing Energy for your Super. That is quite the shock when it happens right in your own neighborhood. Lovely CQ and the coins with beads is such a treat. Sweet stitchery gift you received. Blessings...
ReplyDeletei like your idea of holding down those coins with beads....looks great. sorry about the scary incident. seems like no neighborhood is safe these days....just be aware of your surroundings. take care.
ReplyDeleteOh how horrible Mary Anne!!I have nevver been close to anything like this, but our sleepy Adelaide has had it's fair share of this type of incident too. Must shake you up!!I'm sorry you had had this happen so close to youy.
ReplyDeleteLove your hussif. Can't wait to see it finished!
Wow Mary Anne, that is very scary! Take good care! On a brighter note, I love how your hussif is progressing and what a cute 'thank you' picture you received! Have a good weekend! :) x
ReplyDeleteLovely stitching. Your judging gift is too cool!! Love it. Gifting it to you was a very thoughtful gesture. We live in a rural area so not much gunshot excitement here except when hunters are down on the river. There is a lot of random shooting going on in the towns near me. The world has been becoming a very crazy place and no one is immune to the insanity that goes one around us.

I'm afraid there isn't anywhere safe when someone has a gun.
ReplyDeleteYour judging gift is really lovely. Very apropos I think. When you use Sharon's templates what do you use to mark the seam on your fabric? I have an air erasable pen but it's too efficient. It disappears within minutes so it's useless really. By the way I just got one of the books you recommended. Crazy Quilting: The Complete Guide by J. Marsha Michler. It's a perfect little book.
Your quote of the day is a good rule to live by! How lovely to be given such a nice picture for judging the Crazy Patchwork and, talking of Crazy Patchwork, your hussif is looking great! Sorry to hear your building superintendent was shot - I hope he is alright, poor man. That's very scary for you. I wonder what happened. Barbara xx
ReplyDeleteGood gracious, that is terrible about the shooting! I can't imagine how it feels to have something like that happen right in your own piece of the world.
ReplyDeleteTake care and keep stitching!
(And what a nice gift! Did you enjoy the judging?)
I'm sorry, yes, prayers and healing for the super.
ReplyDeleteKindness is always the best way, good quote.
And good progress!
The hussif is gorgeous! And I just LOVE the thank you gift you received. What a great gift!
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry to hear about the shooting. That is so sad. I do hope your super recovers well and the police are able to apprehend the person or persons responsible.
I hope the Superintendent is improving rapidly. There are many very disturbed people causing trouble in the world at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI love all of the seams and additions to your hussif. I am intrigued by the crane to the right of the lovely pine tree. Is it your embroidery I see there?
OMG how dreadful, that's way too close for comfort, the poor man!
ReplyDeletecan i see tiny tiny hexagons???? They are so precious....
