This post is a complete downer, so if you don't want to read it, stop now.
My dog Odin is sick and I feel heartsick. We had taken him to visit #2 son on New Years Eve and while he was there he started blinking and favouring one eye. The next day (New Years day) there was all sorts of 'goop' around his eye. We thought it was an eye infection. Yesterday the eye seemed much better and we decided not to take him to the vet. Today he had a problem in his other eye and the original one had turned greyish in colour. That alarmed us so we rushed him to the vet where we found that he was now blind in that eye due to a sudden onset of glaucoma. Now we are battling to save the sight in his other eye and also to prevent the pressure from requiring removal of the blind eye.
We have drops to give him and he's had a needle. We see the vet again tomorrow and will be making a trip on Monday to the nearest emergency vet hospital to find what the long-term prognosis will be. Maybe the pressure can be reduced and he won't lose his eye totally and, even more importantly, he won't lose his sight in the other eye.
This isn't the most flattering picture, but the only one I can find readily.....
oh bummer, I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteOh Mary Anne this is so sad. Who would have thought something could happen that fast. He looks like a sweetie and I hope they will be able to save at least the eyesight in the one eye. Keep us posted. Sometimes sewing isn't always that important.

oh,that's not fair, he seems to be the cutest dog on earth? I hope you can save as much as possible of his sight. Many positive waves to you!
ReplyDeleteOh Dear.
ReplyDeleteBut maybe he'll manage with no sight. My dog can barely see and she does ok.Its a bit tricky when we walk and she strays a bit, but generally she knows where we are.
Keep your chin up.
