Leaps and bounds!

...well, maybe short hops 'cause I wouldn't want to hurt myself!  As you can see from the photo quite a bit was accomplished on the landscape over the weekend.  I still have to finish the border and then add the 'sparkle' here and there to the snow.  Sadly that won't likely show up very well in pictures.  When next you see this it should be done.

And, I succumbed and bought myself a Christmas cactus.  Feel sorry for the poor thing because no doubt it will meet its demise in short order but in the meantime...

- THIS would make a really nice gift!

- There are lots of sewable gift ideas HERE.

- THIS is pretty for any time of the year.

- There are lots of fun ideas HERE too!

- I've just returned from a rabbit hole and, simply because I'd love company there, how about checking out THIS (and while you're there, be prepared to poke about in all the 'roots' in that hole!).

Today's quote..."Dance like no one is watching, but text and email like it will be read in court one day"  (I suppose the same could be said for blogging too!)

  2. They used to say don't write anything you wouldn't want printed in the paper! Which cuts right into what I want to say!

  4. When I first got a Christmas Cactus, they didn't do well. Because they were named "cactus" I thought they were succulents that didn't need much water. I was very wrong. The soil needed to stay at least wet to the touch. However, one summer I set one under a tree in a container that didn't drain and nearly drowned my Mother's probably 40 year old Christmas Cactus from an Uncle in Illinois.
I'm beginning to think they have feelings. Both of my long time friend Cacti had been blooming over the past years. Since Mr. G passed, neither have bloomed one time.

    1. Good tips about the cactus...I would have thought they needed to be quite dry (maybe that's why I've killed all I've ever had). This one is showing no signs of the buds opening any further so I'm not holding out a lot of hope. Poor thing - I should have left it in the store.

  5. Wow, this is one very evocative creation! And you've utilized texture so effectively to get the distance into the snow. Very impressive!

    1. Thank you Quinn! There's definitely lots of texture on this one and there will be more once I had the sparkle here and there to the snow.

  6. Ditto Wow! This quilt is progressing well, as all do, but this one has extra charm.
The book page flower wreath is gorgeous. The quote, true, nowadays before posting anything one might do good to ask the question, "Can they sue me for this?"

    1. Glad you like it! And yes, you do need to think about the possibility of being sued over a lot of things these days.

    1. Your photo was b&w so what I've done has pretty much come from my imagination. Glad you like it!

  8. I am having difficulty getting any pictures to show up on blogs. But even though I can't see the quilting I just know you did a bang up job on it.

    God bless.

  9. Loving the progress on the landscape and I really enjoyed the 'rabbit hole' link. So many different styles of Art Quilt! Love the Christmas Cactus. I used to have one but it eventually gave up on me! Maybe I should get a new one? Hugs Christine xx

    1. It's was sure nice to have company down the rabbit hole of art quilts! Don't know if I can keep the cactus alive - it's not looking good already with some of the buds dropping off. Should have left the poor thing in the store!

  10. A snowy field was such a great idea. And the busted window is just perfect, Mary Anne!

    1. The original photo was in b&w so I could use my imagination regarding colours. Doubt you can see in the photo, but the windshield has bullet holes in it too.

  11. I find Christmas cactus to be very tricky. I actually got rid of some old dried out ones this fall and succumbed to buying a very small one that was just beginning to bloom. A few did and then the rest dropped off unopened. Now he brought home a second one (a little bigger) that is looking to follow in the other's footsteps. Good luck with yours!

    1. It doesn't look as though any of the buds are going to open at this point. They're slowly falling off. Hopefully I can keep it alive until next year and maybe it might bloom then...fingers crossed!
