And yet another landscape has reached completion!
FOR SALE!
"DANDELION LOVE"
...and a closeup of the dandelions...
by Dale Stewart that I used as
inspiration (with his kind permission)...
- THIS caught my eye - I like the fact that the pattern changes throughout so less chance of getting bored with it.
- I really enjoyed reading THIS post.
- Making one (or more!!) of THESE would be a fun project (and would make a nice gift too).
- Although it looks as though this person stopped blogging quite awhile ago, I came across THIS and would love to know how she created it!
Today's quote...."As long as you feel pain, you're still alive. As long as you make mistakes, you're still human. And as long as you keep trying, there's still hope"
The latest landscape is just wonderful! I hope it finds a good home.
ReplyDeleteI hope it does too, but in the meantime it will hang on my wall in my sewing room.
DeleteWhat a lovely finish on this landscape; I love the corner dandelions...so textural...nice work hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThanks Julierose. The dandelions were fun to make although they took some thought.
DeleteIt's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteawww - thank you Vicki!!
DeleteThat barn is fantastic and those dandelions are wonderfully done. Bravo!!!
ReplyDeleteI love creating barns - wasn't so sure how the dandelion idea would pan out but I think it's okay.
DeleteWow, your creations keep getting better and more creative!! I just love the dandelions you made. And they look so much better there than in my yard!! xo
ReplyDeleteI try to challenge myself with each one I do, just to see if I can create something different. I happen to like dandelions so they were a natural spring-time flower to include.
DeleteWow Maryanne this is stunning your work is amazing you made a pic come to life ,well done clever lady ,this is awesome 🌹🤍🌹
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! I have a lot of fun creating these so I really appreciate your words.
DeleteI love this finished landscape Mary Anne. I think it is beautiful and a very successful foray into the raw edge strips to create the backgrounds. Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteI have 4 more planned to do with the raw edge strips - one for each of the seasons (prep work for the possible workshop I might be teaching in January). That should give me lots of practice!
DeleteSherry of createology: “Dandelion Love” is such a peaceful landscape with the barn and torn strips of dandelion grasses. The addition of the embroidered dandelions is the perfect finish. Lots of interesting links here. Great quote dear.
ReplyDeleteI love dandelions so they were a natural thing for me to include in this scene. Now it's on to the next one!
DeleteYou've made a fantastic thing here! Congrats :)
ReplyDeleteAww - thank you Quinn! Much appreciated!
DeleteIt is a beauty! The dandelions are perfection.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun trying to figure out how to make the dandelions. I think I'd do them a little differently next time but at least I learned something.
DeleteOh my goodness: A perfect name for this beautiful quilt, you do amazing work, the dandelions are perfect and look at home on this quilt, you have added a special touch.
ReplyDeleteThe last link with the flowers looks like a similar technique I used many years ago, you hand stitch all the design and then put 100 percent wool in between the top and backing and then dip into hot water, the design then takes on a different shape and puffs ups the design, you can use a preprinted fabric and hand stitch around the different shapes and design.
Catherine
Thank you Catherine. And I'm interested in the technique you reference and I might have to give it a try.
DeleteOoooh. This just might be my favorite! Or do I possibly say that every time?!? Everything about this is lovely. The embroidery on the outside border... the french knot flowers (dandelions?) in the foreground... the striation of various green ripped fabrics making up the field... A beautifully executed falling-in-roof on the barn. And those dandelions in the corner!!! Those are wonderful. They make me smile. Bravo on another great finish, Mary Anne!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you Becki! I'm glad you like it. Right now it's my favourite too, but that usually changes by the time I do a new one. (and yes, the french knot flowers are supposed to be dandelions).
DeleteOh wow, that one turned out fantastic! Who knew you could make a run down, almost roofless, barn look good?! And those dandelions, perfect.
ReplyDeleteFalling apart buildings are my thing! I've always loved them so am very happy that I'm able to translate them into fabric.
DeleteFantastic landscape! The barn is so realistic.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I certainly had fun working on this one.
