Resident Chef carved this Santa many years ago and there it sat. Unloved, unpainted, and stuffed in a drawer. I finally decided that I was going to get it painted if it was the last thing I do. Only took me over ten years....
- Those of us whose kids watched Sesame Street will remember the Yip Yips and now there's both a crocheted AND a knitted pattern to make them. I think kids now, even tho' the Yip Yips aren't 'on' anymore would still get a kick out of them!
- THIS is a pretty little mug rug design that you could make for either yourself or as a gift.
- If you like roses, perhaps you might like THIS (scroll down to see the full design!). Seeing one block won't give you the full effect.
- THIS would make cute little gifts too - particularly if you were to give the mug and fill it with maybe some hot chocolate or cider packets.
- If you plan on giving gift cards this year, perhaps making some of THESE would make a cute presentation.
- There's a great in-depth review HERE of products you can use to create a snowy texture on your projects.
Today's quote is from Victoria Erickson..."There's a turning point. It arrives when we find ourselves quietly hovering inside the realization that the choice is between two pains: the pain of the jump or the pain of regret"
Kudos to Resident Chef and you for creating that wonderful work of heart. Shared projects and always so special.
ReplyDeleteI've always been the official 'painter' but have to say this one took me awhile!
DeleteBetter late than never!!
ReplyDeleteMust admit I got heartily sick of it lurking in the drawer!!
DeleteWell, one can never rush these things. =) Resident chef can add 'proficient carver' to his bag of tricks. Santa is fabulous and even more so with your painting of him. His face is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteYes, Resident Chef was an amazing carver but he can't do it now....the wood 'dust' bothers his lungs. B'sides, there's nowhere in an apartment for him to create the dusty mess that goes along with it.
DeleteSuch a neat old-timey--Santa--my favorite kind...nice job on painting him...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI love the old-fashioned Santas too with the original Coca-Cola Santa a close second!
DeleteObviously Resident Chef is a man of many talents. I am glad to know he is finally out and about bringing joy to you and yours. Great job on the painting, too!
ReplyDeleteYes, he definitely is talented when it comes to cooking and woodworking. I think he was pleased that I finally finished the Santa.
DeleteGreat paint job, and the carving is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
This one is a keeper for sure....thank you.
DeleteWow! I love your Santa. What a great job of carving him the Resident Chef did and what a marvellous job you did painting him too! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteHe's supposed to have skis and ski poles but those disappeared over the years. I'm not about to bug Resident Chef to try to create more because his tools (and access to wood) are gone.
DeleteThat Santa is AWESOME!! (said with a jolly tune)......and guess what? He is already 10 years old so he must be Vintage, right? Win-Win I say!
ReplyDeleteVintage? Hah, hah - that's great!! He's actually likely even more 'vintage' than ten years too if I really thought about it.
DeleteYour Santa is beautiful! Great collaboration!
ReplyDeleteHah - a collaboration over ten years in the making!
DeleteSanta is wonderful and how happy you both must be to have him finished and on display. Lots of great links too.
ReplyDeleteI'm just happy he's out of my drawer in the sewing room!
DeleteThat's a treasure!
ReplyDeleteI've held onto it all these years and know it's beyond time I did my part to finish it.
