Over the weekend I finished knitting myself a new cowl. I'm ashamed to say how old my previous scarf is and I still love it, but I think people are heartily sick of seeing it, so....a new cowl.....
Mr. Crow makes a good model, don't you think? Pattern is The Copycat Cowl by Verna Glass and can be found HERE. I used a regular long-tail cast on and some Maximum Value yarn from Mary Maxim.
Today's quote..."If my body was a car, I would be trading it in for a newer model. I've got bumps, dents, scratches, and my headlights are out of focus. My gearbox is seizing up and it takes me hours to reach maximum speed. I overheat for no reason and every time I sneeze, cough or laugh either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires"
Finally, something for yourself! High time. It's lovely. I do like cowls. You can pull them up, too, like a hat. Very cosy.
ReplyDeleteI rarely make anything for myself so I guess it's a good thing. I've never been a fan of long scarves because I always seem to end up with them dragging in the dirt. Fashionista I am not!!
DeleteYou gave us a good laugh this morning with your funny quote!!:))
ReplyDeleteI love your cowl--I need to make myself one...I am going to tentatively try a bit of knitting; It's been 4 years since I had to quit...hoping that my wrist will be ok if I take it easy on it...hugs in the rain and 55 degree temps (Yikes, in December??)

Glad I made you laugh - we all need more of that!
DeleteA cowl would be fairly easy to knit - just make sure to either set the timer or limit yourself to just a few rows at a time.
It is also harder to find parts for the older models as well. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI really like the cowl. It will keep you toasty warm.
God bless.
Oh yes, there's definitely a shortage of body parts!
DeleteAs for the cowl keeping me warm, I truly hope I won't need to even wear it (but that's not apt to happen!).
Beautiful cowl! The pattern is very stylish. The link, it will be my first time using circular needles.
ReplyDeleteBig Lol on the quote!
I liked this particular cowl pattern because there was enough pattern to keep me interested. Many cowls are just ribbing and that gets boring pretty quickly.
DeleteMr Crow does indeed make a fabulous model. Lovely cowl, Mary Anne; looks cosy and warm. Love the quote. Sounds very like me as I ticked off all the faults, one by one.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure how I would photo the cowl beyond just a red 'blob' and happened to look up and noticed Mr. Crow volunteering to be my model. No sooner said than done!
DeleteThat is a very lovely cowl!! But your poor old comfy one... I have a sweater that has holes in it and I really need to toss it... but it's so soft and comfy!!! Sigh! But your new cowl will soon be your favorite I am sure! xx
ReplyDeleteI won't be parting with my old scarf and no doubt it will still get worn more than the new cowl. A friend made it for me - chenille and so lovely and soft.
DeleteGlad you took time to actually make something for yourself. That is a very lovely cowl. You are a pro!
ReplyDeleteYes, I rarely make anything for myself because there are too many things I want to make for everybody else.
DeleteOh how I love your new red cowl. Great that your made something for yourself dear. Merry Christmas will look good on you.
ReplyDeleteI love it too Sherry, but it remains to be seen whether I will end up loving it as much as my well-treasured previous scarf.
DeleteLove your new cowl Mary Anne! The colour is so cheery for this time of year! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteI love wearing red and my old scarf is red so why not stick with what I like.
