Done, done AND done

Did you notice that?  Three done-zzz???  That's because there are now three little sweaters completed for three grandies that are heading into the Christmas box.  This is the third - same pattern, same yarn, just ever so slightly different colorway.... (you can scroll down to see the other two if you want to compare them).

Yesterday we went on a short road trip which ended up turning into yet another of our famous (or infamous?) debacles.  Our destination was Algoma Orchards which is a great apple market in quest of a nice supply of apples.  Resident Chef drove there and, as usual, handed the keys over to me to drive home.  First mistake.  I, unfortunately for some, am one of those people who likes to go on the roads less traveled and often can be heard to say 'I wonder what's down this road?'.  Well, my wondering can lead to some pretty interesting adventures and yesterday was no exception.  We saw more dead ends than ever before and I did more backtracking than we'd ever done.  Poor Resident Chef was nearly beside himself as I wandered up and down trying to find something that would lead us home.  All those backroads had us oftentimes winding around and going miles out of our way in the opposite direction...all this with a gas tank that was flirting with fumes.  Ooops.  I guess we're simply getting too old for going on road trip adventures and from now on I'll have to be good and stick to the beaten path.

But if I had, would we have seen these?

Or these?......

Today's quote...."A grandmother thinks about her grandchildren day and night even if they are not with her and will love them in a way they will never understand"

    1. It's going to be fun to see if the sweaters all fit - I'm hopeful they're just a tad too large so there's some growing room. Hard to guess when we haven't seen them in person for so long.

    1. I like adventuring but Resident Chef, not so much. His sense of direction isn't as good as mine so he gets lost fairly easily. Lovely weekend to you too!

  5. SO much catching up I need to do on your blog - you've been so busy making and finishing beautiful things! I love all three of the cardigans, and all the little stitches you've recently finished up. I'm also very curious what kind of gourds those are, Really strange looking, and intriguing. :)

    1. I have no idea what kind of gourds they are - there was no sign to identify them. They certainly are different though.

    1. Pig Path? Never heard that term before (and I'm not sharing it with Resident Chef or I'll never hear the end of it!). Your mom and I sound like kindred souls.

  7. Another beautiful cardigan and colour. The road trip sounds interesting. The vegetables are Snake Gourds and come in different shapes and sizes. I've saved the Bookmarks link and the Headband also. Great quote. Those children will understand the joy and memories of those days when they become G'parents.

    1. Thank you for the name of the gourds and yes the road trip (at least to my mind) was interesting. I'm ever hopeful of stumbling across a wonderful old building for inspiration but alas not a one.

  8. Good for you three sweaters done and dusted.

At first I thought those gourds were snakes!!! Very different and very lovely in their own unique and weird way.

    God bless.

    1. They do look snake-like don't they. Wouldn't want to stumble across one unexpectedly, that's for sure.

  9. I love to take the road less traveled. Drives my husband nuts. He always says< “How did you know this was here?” Your Christmas box must be overflowing with all the amazing gifts you are creating. The precious little boy sweaters are wonderful. Did you at least get your apples? Tis the Fall Apple season.

    1. Yes, we got the apples because himself was driving and made sure we got there. It was on the way home that we hit the road(s) less traveled.

  10. Those sweaters are beautiful and such a thoughtful and useful gift. I'm sure the moms will hold on to them for the next generation. It's nice to take the road less traveled at times. Especially at this time of year when there is so much going on nature-wise. I would love to add one of those snake guords to our doorstop vignette. I might have to coax my DH into a little road adventure.

    1. If you do talk him into a road trip just be sure you have a full tank of gas! Hope you are able to find some of those gourds because they are interesting.

  11. Great adventure - I love it! I think adventure and curiosity, taking the road less travelled (er, though as you backtracked a lot that might not be a good way of describing it!). Still though, I loved reading this.

    1. Hah - with all the backtracking it would better be called the road MORE travelled!

    1. Thank you! My grandies may be lucky but I consider myself lucky to have them so I guess it's a win/win.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
