A hodge podge of mumblings

Some of you (maybe one or two) have likely realized that I have a slightly warped sense of humour so it will come as no surprise that seeing this on the jar of peanut butter label at breakfast this morning would set me off...

You'll likely have to embiggen the picture to get what I'm referring to.  I wonder if Loblaws REALLY expects me to eat that much at one sitting??  See?  Told you I was warped!

Resident Chef harvested his pepper crop from the balcony and turned some of these...

into these...

The rest are in the freezer.

Our trip to the apple orchard last week gleaned us some Honey Crisp and Paula Red apples.  The Honey Crisps are perfect for eating but the Paula's weren't crispy at all.  So....this was the result...

And, remember the wheelchair shawl I showed you a few days ago and that I wasn't happy with the stiffness of the yarn?  Well, there's been a remake and I think this is much better (Caron Simply Soft yarn).

The close up photo shows the colour much better.

- Sometimes I come across something that I hadn't heard of before and THIS is one of them.

- I'd love to make one of THESE for our grandies, but it would take a VERY long time methinks!

- A set of THESE would be fun to make for Halloween!

Today's quote...."The secret to a long marriage?  Never fall out of love with each other on the same day"

    1. I went so far as to send the peanut butter picture to the president of Loblaws - thought he deserved a morning smile too. Mind you, maybe somebody's head will roll over it, who knows!!

  2. Wow! You got all those peppers and more from your balcony garden! I'm envious. We came home this weekend and something has eaten my green beans and decimated my moonflower vine. That yarn is so pretty - it looks so soft.

    1. Resident Chef's little balcony garden produces a lot - we've been eating cherry tomatoes since mid-July, lots of leaf lettuce, some herbs and the peppers. Not bad for such a small space.

  3. I’m jealous of those peppers too. The stuffed peppers look yummy! I always wonder why manufacturers label pictures “serving suggestion”. I see it on boxes of cereal (in a bowl - do they think we’re going to put it on steak?) or peanut butter (on toast - do they think we’re going to put it on our hair?). Or the ultimate idiotic label I’ve seen on peanut butter - “Contains Peanuts”. (facepalm).

    1. Ummmm - I actually have hard of people putting peanut butter on their hair. Can't remember what the benefit was and it would be an absolute nightmare to remove! The labels that get me are the ones that say that something 'may contain peanuts' when you know beyond a doubt that no self-respecting peanut would be caught dead near it.

  4. It helps that you're way above the level where critters are in competition.

    1. Actually, despite being three floors up, squirrels often scale the brick walls and forage on our balcony. When caught out they literally jump down to the ground and take off running - you'd think after a fall from that height that they'd do themselves damage but apparently not.

  6. What a wonderful crop of peppers.

I also had a giggle about the peanut butter suggested serving.

    God bless.

  7. The shawl is very pretty- good to know you are happy with this softer one. Could you please send down your balcony ..with garden delights if possible- they look sooo tasty. Goodness what an amount of peanut butter to eat in one go.

    1. Yes, I'm much happier with this shawl, at least for the softness factor anyway. It's a constant surprise just how much Resident Chef can grow in such a small area and still leave room for a couple of chairs.

  8. A soft shawl would be so cuddly and much nicer. Love and most importantly…communication

    1. Good heavens - if I ate that much peanut butter at one sitting I'd probably go into a coma!! I like peanut butter but not THAT much!!

  11. I wish I had seen that play mat idea before we went out and bought one for my grandson. That would be really fun to make.

    1. Me too! I've created play mats for each of our grandies already so I don't suppose they need another one, but this would have been fun.

    1. Yes, considering all those peppers came from one plant, I think he was pretty happy with his harvest.
